Which FamCamp; Lackland or Sam Houston

Hello, I will be traveling to San Antonio and not sure if I should stay at Lackland or Fort Sam Houston. They both look to be approximately the same distance to downtown which is where we will be doing most of our site seeing. Being retired AIr Force I tend to be partial to Lackland, however if Sam Houston is substantially nicer I would probably stay there. I understand Lackland doesn’t take reservations but Sam Houston does. Anyways, any advice will be appreciated. Thank you.

Aesthetically, Sam Houston is prettier. Still, I prefer Lackland -- nothing like a C-5 in the pattern shooting approaches to liven up your day! It really is a toss-up, stay where they have a site for you...

If you haven't already, go to www.military campground.us
They have plenty of reviews, pictures and directions to all the military campground. We use this in conjunction with planning our route. Good luck

Thank you. We have arrived at Lackland and we are dry camping until probably Tuesday. Fort Sam Houston had no availability.
