We won't be towing the Airstream. Phooey!

We'll be driving our mother earth loving Prius and pitching the old North Face tent. Hopefully, the ground will have dried up a bit from all of the recent rain.

Nothin' wrong with hippies. We love hippies! Come on, you must own a pair of Birkenstocks. How about something tie dyed?

Since the traffic is so crazy around here Memorial Day weekend, we stay close to home. We will be staying at Cunningham Falls SP near Thurmont, MD about 25 miles north of here. As a point of reference it's about 15 miles south of Gettysburg. It's also in the same park system as Camp David. This works out well too this weekend as my daughter has several activities so it is easy to get her to town (well for her mom to get her to town), I'm staying in the woods with the campfire going and a couple of good books.

I hope everyone has a great, safe weekend and I hope we keep the true purpose of the holiday in mind while we enjoy our fun and freedom.

We will be headed to Hawley Lake in the Arizona White Mountains. It's a yearly trip with the flycasters club. At 8000+ feet, you never know what the weather will be like. The pictures are from 2008 and 2009.

Staying home, working on cabinets in the Liner. Need to get it ready for June 12 trip to Big Bear to support a bicycle century, then the last weekend in June to Lake San Antonio with friends and then the RMVAC in August.

Speaking of the RMVAC in August...we have a tradition of the RMVAC planning committee going to the slated location to scope things out on Memorial Day Weekend. So off we go to Salida for a nice relaxing pre-rally gathering with good friends! Actually, we're staying at the Mount Princeton RV Resort in Buena Vista - just a hop skip & a jump away.

If we don't make the trip one day this week, we'll be on our way to Springfield to bring our new Argosy girl home If we get her during the week, we may take her to Bennett Springs for a first outing or we'll driveway camp at home. Fish are biting in our pond, so all we'll need is a campfire. Be safe, everyone. ~G

Hosting at Highland Haven Airstream Park in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of The Commonwealth of Virginia.

Thursday night menu: Texas style hickory smoked brisket (9hrs on the smoker) along with Memphis style dry rubbed baby back ribs! Yummy.

Ya'll have a good one now ya hear.

Co-hosting the Memorial Day Rally for our unit (Texas Coastal Plains #155) in Montgomery Texas (north of Houston). We have about 30 units trailers & Mohos scheduled to be there.
Remember the reason for Memorial Day.

Heading For The Hills

W're headed up to Penn Wood with our daughter, son-in-law, 2-1/2 year old grandson, and our grandpug. We're taking the '06 so the the kids have a place of their own to stay. It gets awfully cramped in a 34' with four adults, one small child and two small dogs.

Our son-in-law is a veteran from the ongoing war in Iraq and I did my Army service in peace time, so we will definitely be observing the reason behind Memorial Day.

Heading down to Grayton Beach State Park in the FL pan-handle near Destin/Topsail Hill. I hope the oil hasn't made it that far yet.

A local misquito infested campground, Le Fleurs Bluff CG...WHY? Well, our son and a bunch of his pals decided it would be fun to tent camp...I'll be the guy in the Airconditioned Airstream watching the 20 year olds swatting skeeters, slinging sunblock and sweating in the 90 deg 90% humidity.

I wouldn't miss it for anything...

All of those places sound like fun!
We will be at home and working a fundraising event for the band boosters, selling hot dogs, chips etc. at the local Gander Mountain, on the sidewalk. Have to work to send those kids to band camp!
We will also be picnicing with our daughter and her soon to be in-laws.
Oh, and packing for the Alumapalooza at JC next week.
Hope to see some of you when we get there.

Have a wonderful and safe weekend, everyone! We will be keeping the military families in our thoughts too!
