Yer a brave man Pork. I would have worried about a wind storm that could have driven anything up against the coach. Heck, those pesky pine trees also have some of the worst tree sap...hope you're all Walbernized (makes it easy to get the darn sap off with warm(er) water).

you have one big set of pig b*lls...........i would never do that. in fact the professional guy that brought my trailer to me backed right into my pergola and almost knocked it down. moved it 3 feet when it hit.

If you back the trailer into a new space every couple of days, it gets to where you can back it into spaces no average person would dream of trying.

Most excellent backing job. There should be some kind of Airstream prize for the most difficult site to back in to. You would have certainly won it for this one.

Sure that wasn't a pull thru? Glad you did'nt have to do that at night. Great job. How do you keep that 34 footer exterior clean while on the road?

It was supposed to be a pull thru ... but it didn't work out that way. After getting set up ... I walked over to the office and found a note for me saying ... "Be Careful!"
I must admit now that while circling around looking for our site ... I knocked over a dead tree stump that was holding a solar powered lamp ... thought I damaged the trailer ... turned out the awning arm grazed it and knocked it over ... no damage ... whew! ... that was a close one. Then I mustered the courage to park it!
As for cleaning the 34 while on the road ... that's a tough one. The trailer is filthy dirty right now ... but I located an excellent RV wash station in Spokane ... so the AS gets a bubble bath tomorrow.

Remco -- I've kept my eye on the roadside caravans on le Tour. Out the corner of my eye I may have seen the characteristic Airstream contour for about one second on today's stage to Pau. Couldn't tell for sure... If only there were more 'over there!'

To park on my RV space at home, I back 185 ft up a city T-alley, across the regular alley, and into my backyard through an 11 ft gate...first missing the dumpster on the curb side at the beginning of the T-alley by hanging left towards the streetside of the trailer, then manuvering to the right side as I back up the next 100 ft. to line up with the gate all the while missing the neighbor's fence on the curbside.
All my neighbors come out to watch if they are home....just so they can see someone actually back a trailer.
I have been backing trailers since I was 8 yrs old at Grandma's farm.....once you get it down it is like riding a bicycle.

Tim ... I salute you ... you are a man among men.
Doesn't leave much room for the awning, eh?

Wow! Did you light the hot water heater that night? If what I see in the picture is you hot water heater it looks awefully close to that pine tree! You could have had a new definition of 'camp fire'.....

My wife is very good at giving directions too.
But I am also quite proud of the mirrors I have for both trucks!

Campground Follies II
We watched a fellow wrestle a big fifth wheel into a too small campsite. It was a chore, and not because of trees and the like. I'm guessing he was a newbee and should have asked for something else but then again you know some of us guys are . He was going to prove a point and get that trailer into its assigned site! Besides that issue, he and his wife and kids were having a difficult time communicating (both in seeing each other, and their opinion as to what was right) in regards to positioning the trailer.
After what seemed to be 20 minutes of jockeying the trailer he finally gets the fifth wheel to barely fit on the site and at that point tempers were flairing, doors were being slammed and arms were flying up in the air. We were already in stitches from watching this circus, but it really got funny when he plugs in the power and then realizes that he can't open the slide out because its right next to the power pole. He at that point gets back in the truck and starts to jockey the trailer again only to realize that the site is too narrow and will require the front or rear of the trailer to hang out in the road.
Ah yes the joys of camping!
Jack
