Need Some help here.....Camping Next weekend?
Well we have carved out a little time for ourselves to get away for about 4 days next week, and am looking for a cool place to go with the family. We are in our late 30's with a 17 month old little boy and a Siberian Husky. We live in Macon Ga and are looking to go maybe 5 hours plus or minus....to get away. We looked at going to Jekyl island but it is just too dang hot down there right now ....Any suggestions....oh and we have a 99 28 foot excella classic. Help me find a good trip...this will be from wed-sunday.

Bryan, I'm sure it would be further than 500 miles but the Moraine View state Park near Leroy, IL is where several of us will be over the weekend. If you really want to travel come on up and join in. Most everyone has already made reservations but I think there may be 2 or 3 spots still open. You can view the thread and find out a lot more information or contact jcanavera who organized the forum meet.
We would love to see you all and have the opportunity to meet your family!

You could give the Top of Georgia Airstream Park a try, they are North of Atlanta. From what I'm told, the price is right. Also, there is Alatoona Lake COE campground also North of Atlanta.
A little further North is Chatanooga West KOA Kampground, I like the that it is located on the side of a hill (Lookout mountain?)

Fall Creek Falls State Park, Tennessee.
Golfing, boating, hiking, swiming, dining.
Tennessee State Parks: Fall Creek Falls
or Cumberland Plateau Campground at Crossville, TN is an Airstream Park, and is pretty much next to Cumberland State Park at Crossville.
Tennessee Cumberland Plateau Campground
These are 50 and 70 miles north of Chattanooga, respectively.

We just stayed at St. George Island State Park on St. George Island, FL. Just take lots of insect repellent. It is a great place to stay and a beautiful park, no sewer hook up, though. To the west is Top Sail State Park at Santa Rosa Beach, FL. This is a very nice resort styled camp ground that has full hook ups and cable. Both are reasonably priced. Either would be within 5 hours from Macon.

I suggest the Smoky Mountains. They have some nice campgrounds. Plenty to do. You can always go to Dollywood Splash Country, a lot of fun there. Or even Dollywood. There is a nice big Aquarium in Gatlinburg. If you camp in Pigeon Forge it is a short drive to Gatlinburg. you can check it out at Pigeon Forge Family Vacation Destination Guide – Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

Hey, From Covington / Mansfield ,Georgia,
Look at Georgia Power run sites. Lake Juliette is very close to you with 37 waterfront sites, $16.00 a night for water and power hookups. Lake Oconee sites are great and at the same price. State of Georgia sites worth the trip include High falls, around $22 a night.
Good Luck,
Keith

One of our favorites is FDR State Park. Power and water, no sewer. Lots to do in the area: Horseback riding, Calloway Gardens, an animal park, catch and release fishing at the Park, other things, too...I just haven't done them.
FDR should be fairly close to you, but beware of the deer! Did lots of damage to our Airstream when it was 3 weeks old...don't ask.
