Loving my Airstream life on New Years Eve 2015

What a day. We got to Top of GA around 2pm from Newport, TN. The ground is a bit soft with all the rain. We got stuck not once but twice getting in to a site. Everyone came out and with all their wonderful effort when I was ready to throw in the towel (get me a BIG tow truck) they ignored me and prevailed. Floyd can drive and back a trailer like nothing I have ever seen. Thanks guys..and this is what Airstream is all about. Loving my Airstream life.

When hitting soggy sites, several boards laid perpendicular to line of travel can help...

These are times we can appreciate the blessing of community...

Happy New Year!

Badkat, you are so right, AS owners are the nicest people! Actually we've found that RV'ers are nice people. We joined WBCCI not really knowing what the organization was all about. Our first few trips we couldn't figure out how to work one system or another on our trailer in each case there were other Airstream Trailers with WBCCI numbers on them in the RV parks where we were staying. I looked the owners up in our WBCCI directory and emailed two different couples on two different occasions, in each instance the people were wonderful. We stayed in an Airstream only park, Virginia Highland Haven, on our way home after purchasing our AS. We were such novices that someone had to back it into the space for us. That weekend everyone at VHH was great to us; they showed us the ropes invited us to "pot luck" dinner showed us how to hitching-up our Hensley Hitch and a lot more. We learned a lot that weekend and met wonderful AS owners. We researched trailers extensively before we purchased our AS. However, the kind and helpful attitude of other AS owners was an unexpected and huge benefit that we did not know or think about until we experienced it after our purchase. I'm glad that you experienced the same thing and I hope that you have a happy new year and safe travels. Thanks for reminding me of how kind strangers and RV'ers are most of the time. A benefit of the RV style!

We have stayed at The French Quarter RV Resort twice, it's an urban RV park in The French Quarter. Expensive but we feel like its a good value, you can walk to most places or take public transportation. If you're in NO a "don't miss place" for us anyway is the WW II Museum and if you go make sure to see "Beyond All Boundaries". Enjoy The Big Easy!

Just curious, what is the French quarter daily rate? We did our honeymoon there at a hotel many years ago, long before Katrina, would be nice to go back with the Airstream. Rolland

They are also still a Passport America Campground, giving half off one night per stay.

We have stayed there a number of times, and it is wonderful to be able to just walk the Quarter and then go back.

Especially if one is into the nightlife there, can hop in a cab and be home in a few minutes.

A bit pricey, but it is very nice and also New Orleans.... and, they are right on the edge of the Quarter.

I am a native New Orleanian, full-timer and I stay on the NorthShore. Guess if I were to go to nightlife in the Quarter I would stay at a beautiful Hotel. Night is very dangerous in the Quarter. My daughter lives in ByWater (behind the Quarter). Her place is gated and no one goes out alone at night.

NorthShore is a bit of a drive across the bridge but really is a nice drive. We stay at Fairview and Fountainbleau State Parks at least 3 weeks a year. So much to see and do not miss Cajun country. We saw Cajun Mardi Gras out of Mamou and it was memorable. Great place to stay is Chicot State Park. Happy Trails.

Double vote for Chicot Park. No sewer at sites Thai I know of. It is near Ville Platte. Plan to cook your own food. It may be Cajun Country, but all the nice restaurant owners have lived out their passion to do it, many reasons.

Now, when you go to Mamou for Fat Tuesday, make sure you have designated driver and pass a good time.

Found Miss Lily at Chicot State Park 5 years ago, and took her to the Vet in Ville Platte when we left with her 3 days later.

The Quarter can be dangerous at night, especially parts of it, but we were always careful where we went and when, and never had a problem.

Our nights always ended relatively early, too....early for the Quarter, anyway.

The FQRV Park is also gated and very secure.
