I wouldn't say it is particularly attractive, but a very convenient campsite that we have used is run by teh city right in downtown Watkins Glen - lots of pullthru sites with full hookups. It is part of a park/marina complex and steps from the lake and downtown. We use it as a good "base" when touring the Finger Lakes Area.
For a more attractive, but a little less convenient location, the Watkins Glen State Park is excellent. You can walk trails right to the gorge with all its waterfalls.
We generally wind up visiting Ithaca and Corning when we are down that way.
A word of caution - the campgrounds in WG are often fully booked if there is race activity on the weekends.
