Bye, bye, Malibu Beach RV Park
What a lovely place, and the staff are just as nice and helpful as they can be. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. They also have great laundry facilities!
There are four Airstream trailers in what appear to be permanent setups in this park. Two are next to each other, in their own out-of-the-way corner, one had numerous surfboards and bicycles outside it and the last had stained glass inserts or portholes in their windows. Hmmm.
The fish and chips at Malibu Seafood, just down the hill, are as good as advertised.
We are headed inland to spend the weekend with friends before going to Joshua Tree, so are done posting on this thread.
California is a beautiful and diverse state. Put it on your to-do list, y'all!
Travel safe,
Maggie

I'd like to hear about Joshua Tree NP Maggie. Will you be posting about somewhere? We'll be there towards late October.

Onward through the fog
we arrived in san simeon after a beautiful drive. left half moon bay in a delicous fog tha dispersed along the way...through pescarado, san gregorio, each too beautiful for description...winding, up an down to monterey and the solid bounty of vegetables and more beauty. out of monterey into carmel by the sea tumbling into the forrest at big sur.
the surprising vast ranch lands full of registered herford and angus cattle and entering the pacific valley and into gorda where gasoline was 4.58 a gallon, winding and circling over the pacific coast highway into san simeon...the hearst castle and the elephant seal hangout...cambria is a great little town...a day trip back up ca 1 to salinas and down the 101 provided more beautiful sights of enormous fields of vegetables, most it seemed were brussel sprouts, which i love...calif seems to be the brussel spout capital....the highlight of the trip was ca 48 from paso robles to cambria...
tomorrow is off to jambla beach at lompoc!!!!r

Port San Luis in Avila Beach during December
Although we frequently go to Port San Luis and Avila Beach and live within 5 miles, we have never camped there. That changed last weekend. It was an exceptionally warm couple of December days. While much of our country is snowed in, the California Central Coast was in the mid 70's. We had to take advantage of that.
Port San Luis Harbor District has many sights available year around on the cliffs just above the water or on a bluff with beautiful views. Our airstream faced the east and we were greeted with a wonderful sunrise. Port San Luis is not fancy but is true to its fishing village history. Go to www.portsanluis.com for more information.

Santa Paula
We spent last weekend at the Ventura Ranch KOA in Santa Paula. It as a beautiful weekend--warm in the high 70's.....The park has new owners and they have quite a few upgrades in the works....and the peacocks that roam the park were interesting especially to our boxer.....the park is not at the beach but they have 76 acres so there is lots of room to do stuff. paula
