Yeah, I know - I just didn't want it to take on a life of it's own like most axle posts.

That axle is brilliant! Like a garage door spring setup... wonder who made it? Did it even have brakes?
Nice Hog btw!

I think it's a Linco axle. It doesn't have brakes - the trailer weighs <1000 lbs.
Yeah, the bikes are fun! So many hobbies, so little time!

Making some progress...
albeit not as quickly as I would like - so what's new!?
Since I last posted, I have:
- finished the POR-15 on the frame & axle
- rebuilt reinstalled the axle
- finished the wood frame (sorry forgot to take overall pics!)
- welded on a new tongue jack
- undercoated the plywood floor w/Herculiner
- pounded out the dents on the wheel wells and painted them (Herculiner on the inside & Silver Hammer Paint on the outside (they're not perfect, but 10 times better than they were)
- installed the wood plywood floor - all screws, no nails!
Next step - install the cork flooring ~ and finish undercoating the exposed wood frame.
Pics:
#1 frame upside down to install axle
#2 frame flipped back over ready for wood
#3 new tongue jack
#4 underside of frame showing wood
#5 re-built & cleaned up hub
#6 plywood floor & wheel wells
#7 rebuilt axle bushing

I've also tested the fridge - it works on both electric & propane.
It just needs a deep clean and a new face panel to spruce it up a bit - avocado green is not a part of my vision! Going to 5-Star Saturday to see about getting some inner door shelves that are missing (déjŕ vu - had to do the same for Maxwell's fridge a long time ago) and a grate & knob for the stove.
I guess for 6 weeks progress, it isn't too bad...sure wish I could work on it more than weekends & evenings though!

#1 vintage Monterey Ware enamel plates, bakelite silverware, pewter "covered wagon" S&P, splatterware cups, blue melmac oval serving bowl, RL blanket
#2 vintage Fiberglass sconce lights (3), striped fabric for curtains
#3 vintage cowboy & brands ceiling light
#4 hair-on cow hide & red leather for cushions, copper for table top, white "lace" laminate for fridge face

TaDa! I got the cork flooring laid and all the metal trim done. I found the pre-finished cork tiles @ Lumber Liquidators on sale for $.99 sf, added two layers of Minwax for floors polyurethane in a high-gloss finish and then added the trim I purchased from Outwater Plastics. Lots of little pieces of the trim - kinda a PITA but I'm really happy with the finished product.
I'm at a good stopping point for now - the next three weekends we will be traveling. Next step is to start on the walls & furniture! So far, so good ~
Time to de-winterize Birdy, pack her up & hit the road!

Yes, the trim was trying...not too bad though, only had to cut a couple of pieces twice...all the angles with the dropped floor made for an interesting puzzle indeed!
The accessories and having a vision for the finished project are what keep me motivated. I'm funny that way...I always get the fun stuff wa-a -a-a-y before the trailer is ready.
Soon, we'll be heading out to CA for the Pismo Vintage Rally - 300+ vintage trailers - mostly non-Airstreams, should be fun - can't wait! Lots of cool old SOB's to check out.

It looks stunning, but I hate to bear the thought of a scrape or gouge in that finish!

Nah...I won't baby it! I like the patina of use - but it'll be awhile before this one is out camping, that's for sure! But I will probably leave the spurs off my boots! LOL!!! And if I have to lay down another coat of finish every couple of years...so be it!
