Probably, but I don't need a fridge shelf quite yet...I think I'll finish the trailer first ~

Made GREAT progress this weekend...the walls are starting to go up! WooHoo!!!

Still need to cut out the window, vents for the fridge and the storage compartments. Wanted to make sure everything was located properly before cutting them into the sides ~

Nice Work!

Shari, The walls and fridge area are looking fantastic! Boy the Scotty didn't have much room for the fridge clearance did it? Is there any vent or is the entire cabinet and trailer interior used as the air flow for the refer? Just curious. Ed

With all the work you're doing, and all the new parts, why don't you and Rob just do an original, maybe called the Shob, or the Rob Shari, or the Rari?

Yeah! You could open the new SharRob factory in Edgewater and call the trailer "Vintage Scotty the new Batch"! Or "Retro-Scotty with a Colorado Twist"! Or........? Ed

You're right, there isn't much space! There are vents to the outside that we still need to cut-in, we just haven't done that yet - wanted to make sure to place them correctly.

I think most Serro Scottys only came with ice boxes though - the vents that were on ours were huge and stuck out about 3". We still have them and they are in good shape, but we will probably replace them with smaller ones.

...or an InsideOut Design Pod.

If there was any chance of keeping our standard of living intact - we might consider that! Unfortuantely, I think we'll have to keep our day jobs ~

Summertime- in the purple & orange shirt just came early & delivered trailer-bits-in-a-big-box!

Tonight we will finish putting the third of five sections of the roof (including front/back walls) on - the last two will wait until most of the inside construction is done. Not everything fits through the door with a small Scotty, like with an Airstream. I will post progress pics this evening ~ the box is too big (16x18x36) to take home on my bike tonight, that'll have to wait until tomorrow ~

Too Late

Sorry to say you are too late. They have been remaking Scotty's since 2007. But I must say they are not as cool as the vintage ones. Next week at the Bash III at Coppers Lake. There is a Scotty rally going on at the same time across the lake. I will be on the Airstream side of the lake.

Hi Shari, Question:

What's the standup height of your Scotty? I see it has a drop floor in the middle? I think some don"t.

Mine didn't have a potty...that's where the fridge was when we got it. The space in the front of the fridge, the 'dead corner', will be used for a small water tank & pump with an access panel from the outside. There will be a shelf over the fridge all the way to the front and this will be the main closet.

I am planning on only using this trailer at campgrounds that have facilities as it is not self-contained (no waste water tanks). We do have a porta potty that can be taken along "just in case" - it'll fit either in the closet or under the dinette/bed or in the truck when not needed. Not having it built in will allow us to take it back and forth between this trailer and our Curtis Wright Model 2 when it's done.

Shari

I'll have to measure it - but I know in the drop down section Rob can stand up - he's just under 6' - he can't at the dinette area, but then once the dinette is built, there's no reason to. It'll either have the bed or dinette made - not need to stand there.

I believe the older models '63 & older were about 6" shorter.

Hey Shari

My Scotty is a 67 Tonga. I have had it for 6 years now. It is a true survivor. It is all orig. and has been stored inside since I have owned it. It did have the orig potty in it. I took it out and use the space for storage. I have towed it many times from PA to Maine to Key West. I also use it as a hideout in my garage. It is used much more then my Airstream. Because I leave the AS in storage for the winter. But I use the Scotty all year around. You may know you do not have a Tonga. They where only made from 66-68. Yours is a Scotty 13 foot front kitchen. These photos where taken the day I got it. I now have a full size mattress it. Which is much better then sleeping on the old cushions.

Looks nice Ace!

Mine is going to be far from original - that's why I bought one in sorry shape. I didn't want to be obligated to "restore" it - going for something altogether different than the robin's egg blue interior.

Yes, I do know now that it's not a Tonga - it is a 13' Front Kitchen Walk-Out. Instead of the step at the door it's dropped down to the well level. It also had several upgrades - the fridge (instead of ice box) in the same location I'm putting it back in - the "closet" or "wear closet" if it would have had a porta potty - which it didn't. Also a Dura-Flame Heater which I will not be putting back in, it takes up too much space. But most did not come with heaters.

Anyways, below are the pics of the ceiling/back panels we put on this weekend. Also the wheel well teardrop detail and the jacks that allow us to fit the trailer in the garage. Our garage door is only 7' - with the wheels off and the jacks, the top is at 6'-9" so it'll stay that way until it ready for the exterior panels and is weatherproof. I may cut the windows in to get so light in to work by - but for now they are all just marked and waiting to be cut.

For now, the fun will be when I dig into my "big box"!

So here are a few update pics...I haven't been able to make much progress (I have, but it's been s-l-o-w) with all our travels of late and coming up - but I did get the dinette/bed seats done, a shelf at the back built in and the fridge placed in the closet.

I also traded in my 2004 MB C320 4-matic for a 2007 VW Touareg V-8 so I can tow with "my car". Mr.InsideOut's '63 Burb is great but it's way too big for two of our trailers, and I'm not comfortable driving or towing with it by myself.

My new-to-me Touareg can tow 7712 lbs and even Birdy is less than 1/2 that - and it's not too big to be a daily driver. I'm happy.

First trip will be on Wednesday when I go to the SOTF Rally in Steamboat...will post more pics then.
