Vintage Appraisal

We need to have our completely redone '63 Safari appraised for insurance purposes. Does anybody know of some one in the Northwest (WA, OR) that will do that? We went to our local rv dealer and they didn't have a clue.

I'm assuming this is for insurnace purposes, right?

We insure ours for "stated value" and have documented the value with pictures, receipts, listings of similar trailers for sale on ebay or elsewhere and the price vs condition website.

We "up'd the value" on our '64 GlobeTrotter over time as we have restored it...just starting over on the process on our Safari. As a matter of fact, I have to send pics off to the agent this evening...

Thanks for the info.
We've already used the "price" website, but our insurance company has asked for a statement from an appraisor.

We had our Safari appraised two years ago by Mike Odell, and you can find him here: Tradermick

To help him out, we gave him a copy of the price guide from Vintage Airstream Home, copies of recent ebay sales, and a spreadsheet of everything we had spent on it. He was very thorough and we plan on calling him again when our Caravel is finished.

Good luck!

What about the RV/ Airstream place in Eugene, OR? I forget the name of the place...

My insurance co. told me to get an appraisal, but the local guy doesn't know Airstreams from... So, instead, I gave them copies of all my receipts and will use sales from E-bay etc. to up my value. As it is, it went from 2,000 to 11,000, just on receipts!

Thanks Mel for the Info. We were hoping to find someone in the NW, and look like you have solved that problem for us.

Hi,
We just bought a 62 Bambi and I was told that the tow vehicle insurance covers the trailer. I assume this is when traveling down the road. Where can I "add" this trailer to get the coverage when not being towed/or for replacement/damage (comprehensive and collision?). It will be in my back yard for awhile being fixed up a bit. Is it a homeowners policy addition or my vehicle policy? I also own antique cars with a separate policy for agreed value coverage. Is that the policy to use?
Thanks for you help.
George

George, I would call the company that insures your antique cars to see if they will also cover vintage trailers with an agreed value policy - if not, they may be able to refer you to a company who can. We use Progressive and have been happy with them so far.

What type of policy is it?

I'm curious about what the coverage is for in the vintage policy. If I were to guess, I would say it is for collision damage only as liability is covered by the tow vehicle. Is that right?

Hi susy,
It would help if you gave us a description, condition and a few photos to help gauge the value. Is it towable and usable, with all systems in working order etc.??
