1955 Safari > 13 Panel > Front Kitchen Models
From the known VIN numbers (6136-6299), it appears there were only about 163 of these unique front kitchen models built.
6001-6135 > 1954
6136-6299 > 1955
6300-5433 > 1956
I am compiling a list of ones that are still known to exist. Their unique layout with the front kitchen and bath contribute to some unusual restoration challenges we face. (like dump valves in the front of the trailer, extra tongue weight, adding grey tanks, etc.) It would be a nice resource to have a list of others that are facing (or have already faced) some of the same challenges.
If you would like your vintage front kitchen Safari included on the list, please contact me via PM and I will add your info. I will post a link to the list here for all to share ~

I know this is an older post but I'm joining anyway. I recently pulled 6199 out of a tree strip in the middle of nowhere. Its great to see other 55's so I can see what right looks like. Here are some pics.

Many that's pretty. I love those crazy heaters in the middle of the room. I want my next trailer to be a 50's era.

Now you're becoming a "connoisseur" Rob As we're building new 13 panel endcap kits, you'll be able to build your own!...............even a 35' whale tail if you so desire.

Yeah Paul,
We have new panels in production now, both interior & exterior for 13 panel trailers, including whale tail's. We also have a version that'll suit the 60's era interiors too. We installed interior prototypes in a 72 Safari, with a few mods, but it looks great. I think Tim posted the photos on the Vap episode where we discussed them. We dumped the cheesy thermoformed plastic front endcap & installed a polished alclad version. The cool thing is that you polish the panels on the bench, before you buck the kit together. This eliminates most of the upside down polishing work you'd have to do on a real 50's era interior endcap. Taking this a step further, these will also fit in 80's & newer trailers too. Taking this two steps further, you could build whatever length "new" 50's era Airstream you've dreamed of.

I know we are hijacking, but post some pictures!
I've always thought is would be cool to take a 1966-68 trailer and put the 13 panel endcaps. With the windows and those endcap, best of all worlds!
Enjoy,

Collin,
As you can see from the picture... I could use a couple panels. I was going to manufacture a couple myself but I'm not too confident in my aluminum working skills. Do you have any that would fit my 55?

Just bought 6123
Registered as a 1955. Based on S/N might be a 54?

Welcome to the forums and congrats on your Safari. If vintage Airstream archives are accurate on this model, you may have a 1954 Safari. Or, if a late production that year, it could be tagged as a 55. 66Overlander (Joe) would know. Anyway, when time allows, please post some pictures. If you plan on a complete renovation, you may consider starting a reno thread. Good luck

You got it about right. Airstream did not record the 1954 to 1955 changeover breakpoints. O6128 was completed on 12-8-1954, but some later SN's were actually completed before it in November, as Airstreams have always been built a little out of exact serial number order. Best we can currently say is O6128 is either a very late 1954 or a very early 1955 model. If you forced me to choose, I'd say late '54, but that's is only about a 51% vs. 49% margin over early 1955. Maybe some day we will be able to answer more precisely, but not right now.
