How to attach a Patty O'shade to a Zip-dee awning ??
I have a Patty O'shade sun screen from a previous trailer that attaches to the awning roller by sliding into the utility slot, however the Zip-dee awning does not have this utility slot and I see no obvious means of attachment.
Has anyone run into this problem and found an elegant solution?

I know the feeling. My wife bought me a light rope for the awning before we bought our Airstream and it is designed to slide into the utility slot also. The only option for us is to return it.
You might look at using clothes pins or some heavy duty binder clips to clip the shade to the awning valance.

Or sew velcro (or zippers) to the awning flap and shade. Of course, Zip Dee would rather you purchase their Solar Shade or Screen Room I'm sure ~

awning attach thingy
While camping during the past 4th of July, I had a banner I wanted to display so I threw it into the trailer before we left. Without thinking where I wanted to display, I noticed the flap hanging down on the awning and thought that would be a dandy place to hang it...but how?
I rooted around my misc compartment and found that I'd thrown some of those "tarp clips" in some time ago. These are a plastic/resin, ratcheting clamp that is supposed to allow you to grip a poly tarp anywhere and tie off.
They worked perfectly and so when I got home, and an excuse to go to Home Depot, I grabbed another card of 4 for $4.
Cheers, really...making beer this afternoon!

Marc, have you ever seen the rope lights I was talking about? Do you think they would work with these tarp clips or just sag between the clips?

Buy an awning strip/track and attach it with either sheet metal screws or pop rivets then slide the awning in the track. I did this on my 72 dodge van and it worked great.

rope lights
MM, if your rope lights are like the ones I'm thinking, they've got a mind of their own and don't ever want to really straighten out easily. My guess is that they'd sag between the clips.
BTW, last Christmas we decorated the coach while we had visitors staying in it and used those suction cups with a groove molded into them to hold numerous strings of those light weight lights. They stuck really good to the skin and only came off when we took them off. Probably not strong enough for rope lights though...

I tried that but it sags-there is a fair bit of weight to one of these.Think i'll try to stretch it between the awning side arms with a ratchetting tie-down.
