Rayzar Automatic Amplified HD TV Antenna

Still deciding what to do so that my non-HD TVs (vintage 1999) can be used. The antenna on my motor home extends but does not rotate, so a new antenna seems called for. This Rayzar at $359 (Camping World) appears good, and reviews on Amazon are very positive. Could this antenna simply be connected to the present TVs? Would appreciate any comments. Thanks.

HD or not HD is irrelevant. The question is whether or not the televisions are digital (current broadcast standard) or analog (old broadcast standard). If they are analog receivers, no antenna will make them work. However, a relatively cheap and easy to install digital to analog converter will.

If they are digital ready, then the new antenna should solve the problem.

I read that it does not work on a metal roof and it is not as good as many other non automatic options available for less $$.

Well, I got an eMail from Winegard that I won a Rayzar Automatic in their weekly giveaway. Once I get it installed I'll give an update on how it works.

I haven't seen that. Where did you read it?

Very interested if you have more on both the metal roof issue, as well as other options you might suggest.

Thanks,

Mike

That information is apparently in the installation instructions not to install on a metal roof. There is more on this thread:

I looked at several options and the Sensar Pro signal strength booster with the Sensar IV head is the best bang for the buck and gets the most signals. I had this set up a few years ago on my Sprinter and have just ordered the signal booster for my latest TT.

Many thanks for this on Sensor Pro and the Sensor IV Head. Plan on going this direction once I get a digital TV and figure out the current wiring on my MH.
