Roof Horns: where are the wires
I am trying to find where the wires are for the roof horns. The wires at the horns are a purple wire and a white with a purple tracer. The problem is I can't find those wires any where. I also can't find a horn relay. The coach is a 1985 32.5.
Dose anyone know where I can find the wires or where they run in the walls and the horn relay where is it hidden. I have the dash out and still no matching wires.
I have power to the horn contact in the steering wheel it is a small black wire that disappears in to the wire harness behind the dash to who knows where Help

On my 83, 310 the roof horns were not connected to the Chev P30 horn system relay. The steering wheel button operated two puny factory horns somewhere under the outside firewall as I recall. There was a separate button on the left side of the dash which beeped the roof ones. Since I was not the first owner of the coach, I am not positive that a PO had not added that button, but somehow I think it was an AS original. But I cannot help you with the wiring or wire locations.

Our 84 310 has the horn button tied to the roof horns. I replaced the horns on the roof with the same ones that Keyair found and they work just fine.
The OEM horn does not currently work and I don't know why. Not exactly high on my priority list to figure it out either
As for routing of the wires, I'm not sure. I'll look through the pictures of the 345 that I took with the inside wall panels removed to see if I can see how the wires were routed.

I think if I remember my horn wires run along inside the dash, and then along the drivers side trip panel, then up the wall(inside) just behind the drivers seat.

Yes Keyair is right...they work with the compresser and the wires and the relay are way down under the steering w.in the left corner and the air tubes run along the panel near the driver side window....had to fix mine ,it now works great.

Mine were and still are electric.
I am not sure if compressor driven horns were ever factory fitted, but man others inc Nomade's AS has them.

Apparently Airstream installed both styles. Our 1984 310 has electric horns and the 1986 345 that I dismantled had electric horns as well.
Maybe air horns were installed as an extra cost option.

I just can't help myself.
I've had this mental image since I first saw the thread topic.

Our '82 280 has air horns. The compressor is in the front of the street side overhead cabinets right where the service manual says it is. At the same time I have never figured out how to operate the small electric horn on the fire wall behind the grill.
