Here's an 81 280 that just got listed on ebay.
It's been in a front end collision but the seller states it's driveable.

Wow. I looked at that front end damage, and it’s ugly.
Totaled for sure which means salvage title.
Look at how far up the windshield it goes!
That tells me the front lower windshield casting is broken or bent as a minimum, plus all the collateral damage.
Not something I would want to take on beyond a parts donor.

Beauty and the beast
Just had some interior work done on out Skydeck motorhome and there was a beautiful classic restoration being done in the shop. I only took a couple of pics, but you can get the idea.
In contrast I also took some pics of a classic sitting in the woods on the side of the road in North Carolina last month....Would take some serious $ to turn it into a beauty though...

WOW! But I'm confused.......late model polished Argosy, painted caps with an early model grille?
Looks like a 310 with the panoramic rear windows but a 280 with the rear spare tire.....did they make a center bath 280? Just a fixed rear side window and what's with the rear red reflectors on what looks like old Beetle castings?
Very confused.

Pretty sure it is a late model grille with the twin rectangular lights changed to a single round.

Hopefully this one won't be as much as a story getting it home...

Now that's cool!
What's the floor plan arrangement on this one?

Not 100% sure based on the description Jay gave over the phone because he couldn't remember himself. But He said when you walk in the kitchen is right in front of you and the bedroom is in the back. This leads me to believe it is the rear twin bed model, which if it is makes me very excited. He is supposed to get me some pictures today but if he doesn't get around to it I might try to see if I can just drive up and look at it.

Early 28ft Argosy popped up on Ebay in the UK, seems to have been bought into UK to sell.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RARE-AIRS...AAAOSw6WFZ9hyT
1976 was the first year of the 28ft so pretty unusual.

Wow, the photo from that UK ebay listing! That is a LOT of towing for that little vehicle. I often thought about getting an Airstream Serenity and towing it behind my LTV Serenity, but I only have a 5000 lb. hitch, that leaves no room for things like water and propane in the trailer.

"only have a 5,000 lb hitch"; gee, wish we all had a 5,000 lb hitch.
Classics are only rated for 2,000 lbs........but we got around that didn't we Mike.
Cheers

Randy,
If I remember correctly that 20' Argosy MH and trailer live somewhere in Colorado. The typical hitch on a 20' Argosy it is fairly stout, at least on the front bath Argosies. The rear bath 20 Argosies have weaker hitches. The Argosy in the picture is a rear bath model.

I wish I knew what mine is now rated. The work on it was done before I owned the rig. I meant to look at some of the other hitches while at the get together and never got around to it. I'd like to see one that is still factory so I'd know what all has been added to mine. Its been gusseted and additional support steel from the factory hitch angled up and forward to a cross member between the rails. Hard to get a picture under there.
