Hi Sid, and all. I am considering this Rally also. It will be a very last minute thing if i can make it. Will be camping with Sisters on the Fly in ARK, the week before, so I shall see if I have an ounce of energy left!!! Sounds like a nice camp spot over there.

Just a reminder to everyone:

Just want to remind everyone about the BBQ Pit situation. Getting the BBQ Pit and the Briskets is no problem at all. Like I told Sphere Guy, theres plenty of cows in Texas and I dont mine getting as many as I might need. BUT, if you look back on post #41 I mentioned that the campground was pretty strick on open flames and out door cooking when I was there back in July. Cant really blame them as dry as it has been in Texas this year.
I said Id wait till it was closer to the time for the rally before I contacted them to see if it is ok for us to bring in the BBQ pit. I was hoping for some rain, but Mrs. S told me today there as been some but not a lot to speak of.

What I plan to do is go by the park itself and speak with the park directly. Will probably get a better response that way then just calling them by phone. They are great people running the park so hopefully they wont mind.

Im flying home on the 27th arriving in Texas on the 28th (If everything goes well here) and Bike_Addict is making a pre run to the park around that time. Im planning on driving up on the 29th and visiting with him and his family and I will also talk to the park then. So then I can give everyone on the forums a for sure answer on whats going on and what rules to look forward to as far as open flames, cooking , ect.

I do have a backup plan if all doesnt go well on my visit. Im sure we will all have a great time with whatever the outcome may be. Its all in what you make of it with what you have.

But I can surely say, I'll be glad when we get some real dead gum rain in Texas!

jsmith84, all you can do is all you can do. Don't worry, we'll have a great time regardless.

Yes, I'll leave Vietnam (Hopefully) on the 27th and on the 29th Im going to the park in person and I will be sure to report back on what the open flame and cooking restrictions will be.

Darn drought just has everthing in Texas limited right now, but Im sure everyone will have a great time regardless.

Looks like the burn ban in Sabine County continues through at least January according to what I can find on the interwebs for the county. Maybe a propane fired hot dog boil might be in order if the brisket cooker can't operate.

I have a big electric roaster Mr. B made killer BBQ pork using at Branson. It sits on a table outside and makes campground smell yummy. No need for fire. We'll cook something in it!

Would this be the same type of roaster that we used to use for roasting turkey's at thanksgiving? if so we've got one as well that we can bring along if need be.... that thing would heat up a bunch of hot dogs lol

Yep, it's a big ole turkey roaster, but we put a foil pan in it, and use it like an oven! Bonus is that you can put the rack in, put a disposable foil pan on it, put water in the bottom, and it keeps meats moist- and there's no clean up! Easy cooking. No fire needed.

It's raining hard in Arkansas tonight. Hope Texas gets some!
