party central is now at the alumalounge!!! so i am making an executive decision and moving the dance party bonfire to the alumalounge! sue, you've been volunteered. if you haven't seen the alumalounge, it's made for parties!

Well the fire pit is finished!!
Today I cut out the aluminum lava rock holder and assembled the main frame. Then I put 21 pounds of lava rock on top of the burner. The rocks really help to reduce the jet like flames.
So I let it run for 15 minutes to burn in everything, about 3 minutes into the test there were 2 LOUD pops. I thought I was back in country!! I found the flying shrapnel in order to identify. It was only lava rock pieces!! I suspect there was some moisture in the rocks and with a "bbg" this probably would not have happened.
This thing puts out serious heat. One cannot stand closer than 4 feet to it upwind. downwind- forget it, 12 feet.
Then I weighed the tank and ran wide open throttle for 15 minutes. 2 1/4 lbs of propane used. That's 9 lbs/hour or 2 1/4 gallons/hour!!! Thirsty huh- yup it's got pizzaz. I think I'll try to figure out the btu output when I'm more alert.
So we got fire!!

times 2.25 = 206,100 btu /hour.

Hi Neil,
Steve and I and Cody just got back from Graegle..did a little trout fishing at Lake Davis and at Frenchman Lake in the Plumas National Forest area..ever been!..boy it sure can get windy on Lake Davis  !! Steve says next time he'll bring a 'bigger boat'!

We lived for 8 years in Washoe Valley (near Carson City) and the Plumas area was very handy to get to for camping. So yes we've 'been there, done that'. Has Steve found a fishing spot at/near Jackson Rancheria? I guess we won't get to share any abalone.
