Oklahoma City Zoo

Bill, what you're suggesting would be a great weekend location for families/kids.

Oklahoma City does have an incredible zoo. Homepage - Oklahoma City Zoo Right now and through June, they are featuring a "Dinosaurs Unearthed dino-reality experience." DINOSAURS UNEARTHED DEBUTS AT THE ZOO! - Oklahoma City Zoo

We haven't been to the Children's Science Museum Welcome to Science Museum Oklahoma for several years when it was still the Omniplex. It is indeed right by the zoo.

The zoo and science museum are located in Lincoln Park which also has a golf course, Oklahoma State Firefighters' Museum, and the National Softball Hall of Fame and Museum. Lincoln Park is located across from Remington Park Racetrack. Lincoln Park is about 6 miles from Bricktown/Downtown Oklahoma City. Bricktown Downtown Oklahoma City

We'll be in the area a couple of weeks in mid May and will be taking our granddaughter to the zoo then. We're staying at Oklahoma City East KOA. In addition to visiting family, we plan to touch bases with a couple of AirForums friends who live in the area.

We visited the Dinosaurs exhibit at the St. Louis Zoo last year. It was alright, but I think Collin was too small for it. It would make a nice trip for those near the OKC area, but it would be a 9 hour trip for us.

It would indeed be a long drive for you, Steve. When we drive over from Central IL and are towing, we break the drive up into two days. We generally go as far as Springfield, MO the first day.

I'm thinking that the dinosaurs exhibit would be fun for an 8 yr old. Would you agree?

Bill,

There is a small contingent of Airstreamers in the OKC area or close enough that your rally could turn into a very big success.

The dino exhibit would be fun for an 8 year old indeed.

I'm thinking that soldiermedic can give you some good tips when you're at Branson and lead you to some links on the forum about organizing a rally. You'll also have some folks from Oklahoma attending Branson. They can give you some local insight that we've lost in the years since we moved out of state.

Our first rally was just a year ago this month. We attended the past two Branson rallies, a Meramec SP rally, and Moraine View. Haven't jumped in and organized any yet.

The simplest approach may be for you to set a date and place and then let folks make their arrrangements themselves. No date will work for everyone. You could contact the campground you choose (you mentioned Twin Fountains earlier) to see if they'll give discounts and if they have a pavilion for potluck meals.

Other than that, I suggest keep it simple and informal. That's the beauty of AirForums rallies.

Ah Steve beat me to posting .... see, I knew Steve would offer some suggestions.
