The 'backwoods' diner is The Fire House Diner in Diamond Springs. From there while Lynn shopped Walmart I, yes I got a PETICURE. You guys, don't knock it 'til you've gotten one. For Lunch it was 'IN and OUT Burgers' (got my manhood back there) then browsed Home Depot, a short visit to downtown Placerville, up the road to my favorite hole in the wall Mexican restaurant for our take home dinner. I got a chilis relleno dinner and Lynn got....drum roll please, for Vinnie...LYNN got a TACO for her dinner!

Yeayy! Had our breakdown 3 weeks early!
Good news - Bad news....
Bad news is that beloved Excursion just experienced a total Fuel Pump (embedded kind inside tank) failure, and died in the driveway.. Good news is that it happened 3 weeks before Casini, rather than on day of departure... After fun tow truck ride to dealership, hideously expensive replacement part plus hours of labor to get at it and replace it <they "threw in" a free oil change..>, the Silver Bus is back on the road and ready to haul the Condo to the Russian River..
Dealer service mgr vague about causation, but mumbling about new fuel mixes and did admit they were changing 4 Ford SUV fuel pumps same day...
Now is the time to get those tow vehicles running and charged (and repaired...) so they'll be ready next month to hit the Road...

Wow, when I worked at Ford, it would have totally made my day if one of my customer's was actually happy that their fuel pump went out. All my customer's just got really, really mad about stuff like that! Which is exactly why I don't work there anymore.
But I am also happy that this will not interfere with our rally.
Fun times ahead!

I've heard many times of such fuel pump failures in Fords. Since the fuel pump is in the tank the whole tank has to be removed to replace the pump. That is a lot of labor to pay for and the pump ain't cheap either! I like the older cars...I understand them. However, I am having a problem with the sending (gauge) unit in our Buick. It is a doable fix for me. I do have to remove the tank BUT the trailer hitch was built under the tank. WELDED in place. I carry a spare 1 gal. can when traveling. The first time that we ran out of gas was 2 Casinis ago on I 80!
