Hi Globie64,
Our last trip to Jackson Rancheria RV Park was our first trip with our cat...and, he was about 5 months old at the time. We prepared him by taking short rides in the car with him in a carrier (not just trips to the vet!). Since our Airstream is housed in our yard, we took him inside with us whenever their were things that needed to be done. He did very well on the drive, partly because our dog's crate was face-to-face with his crate, and he loves the dog! I think the dog's calm demeanor helped him settle down.
The worst part for most cats is the drive to and from; once you arrive, they spend most of their time inside. Some of us have cages and/or harnesses for our cats, so they can come outside; others have cats that you might only see in the window, if that.
Wait until you see Doorgunner's cat, Venus, who even goes with him in his kayak!!! She spends much of her time outside, either in a cage or tethered to a line. Venus was our inspiration to turn our cat, Dexter, into an "Airstream kitty."

UWE! It would be great to see you again. Casini is a great rally spot and if you haven't camped the Russian river then you gotta come. Hope you can make it.

The tether line is a great idea even though I 'discovered' it the dark while carrying my dinner. My Bad , I knew it was there. I love taking the center of attention away from a cat.

Venus is a great cat. My little buddy Zeus is leash trained BUT knows how to get out of the harness. I think there might be a picture out there of me walking him with a leash and harness fashioned out of zip ties provided by MexRay and 20 feet of caution tape provided by NevadaGeo. Believe it or not - caution tape works well as a leash!
Before I forget - I still have spot 148 reserved and available if anybody wants it!

Hey Zugbug,
Have you reserved a site yet, or are you taking your chances when spring arrives? You might talk to Buttercup and take over his "spare" site (he reserved two).
Cheers

Great minds think alike, I just sent off to Buttercup, hoping 148 is still available. When I get confirmation from him I will be registering site 148.

The tether is a good idea, although she doesn't go outside at home- she was declawed by a previous owner and we have a lot of animals around. Maybe we could make a cool tubular aluminum carrier for her? Animalstream?

It works well for Venus, who is very comfortable being outside with a good-fitting harness. If your cat is not used to being out, you should test a harness out in the home environment beforehand. We had out kitten out several times before he was startled and backed out of his harness in an instant! Fortunately, I was able to just pick him up....but, I always have an eye out in case a strange person (dogs and cats don't seem to bother him!) happens to walk by.
We are looking forward to meeting Clawdine! (LOVE the name)
