OK, so I am desperately trying to get this rig ready to roll... my daughter keeps trying to pack her clothes into the trailer- and well, I'm just not going to finish everything...

Does anyone, who's attending the rally, have a rivet shaver? And if so, would you be willing to let me try it, so see if I really want to spend the $$$ on one? I have about 45 rivets to beautify around my water heater. I have used my faux-Dremel thus far (on other areas), but with that many... the risk of an oopsie is way magnified !!!

Thanks (way in advance)!!

sequoiacoast, I'll bring a inexpensive Drumell tool. The rivets can be finished with this tool very easly.

Getting ready

Hi all, I am getting the Airstream ready today. I am amazed that I even have the spare time.

My Father passed away February 16th. I has been a very hard time around here. I am the one (oldest son) who took the reigns and made all the arrangements, kept track of everyones wishes etc. The service is tomorrow and barring any unforseen circumstances, I will be there sometime Thursday.

Life goes on and the best way to honor his memory is to live my life and remember him often.

I am really looking forward to having some time to relax.

So far as I can tell the menu for Sat. night is :

Pot Roast
Lasagna
Pie
Ceasar Salad

feel free to add to the list

Milk Bones ??? Greenies ???? I'll pass on those.

I am shopping in Newport and I am bringing a small BBQ if anyone needs to use it just ask.

Thats about it right now.

Any questions, just ask !

We could bring our heart-stopping cheesy potatoes to go with all that meat, if you like

Sorry to hear about your Dad, Chris. That's tough. I think a rally is just what you need...

Chris - we are making mac and cheese - from scratch, with whole milk, loads of cheese , butter and all the really baad stuff. A roasting pan full!

And we also have a BBQ (portable) w/us.
We are bringing 1 canopy w/2sides, 1 heater, 1 firedancer and wieghts.
We are leaving the big cooking gear at home. I can still bring a laptop and movies - if anyone has an lcd projector - we can do a movie night!

Chris,

We are sorry to hear about your Father. I know how busy and hard it can be when you are the one to be responsible. My Dad had a awful series of strokes before he died, and there was little I could do. I hope whatever it was for your Father ~ I hope he didn't suffer or linger.

Steph is right, a good rally is just the ticket! If we can do anything, just give us a chore! Hopefully the snow will cooperate and let us get over the passes in time for the rally! We plan on being there!

I am bringing munchies for cocktail hour, and will bring veggies of some kind for dinner.

Looking at Steph's suggestion and Janet's... sounds yummy... but my CPR ticket has elapsed, anyone current?

See you soon. Hang in there!

In that case I think we'll skip the cheesy potatoes. My first aid card is up to date, but that doesn't mean I want to practice

Hi Chris. Sorry to hear about your father. I agree with Stephanie, a rally is the best medicine!

Let us know is you need anything for the rally. We both have to work Friday, so we won't be arriving until late, 7-8pm. You all can laugh as I try to park in the dark! We are going to stay until Monday though. It looks like the G loop is closed Sunday night, so we may have to change spaces to one of the open loops.

Has anyone else looked at the weather. Rain I don't care about, but here in Eugene the forcasted low is 27 degrees on Thrusday. I don't like the idea of towing on icy roads. Let's hope it doesn't get quite that cold!

I don't think they will kick you out of your spot, they just won't let anyone else in.

Thank you all for the condolences

We're almost ready!

We have to pack our clothes and some dog food....but we're nearly ready for our maiden voyage in our Argy. We haven't had it in the rain yet...so we may pack some duct tape too!
We were going to have a work party to install our window rock guards we ordered from Sutton RV.....but AS sent three curved pieces (no center piece).. go figure! Instead, we'll have a gazillion questions to ask you all. The wealth of knowledge at the rally will be unmatched! Some of the issues I'm concerned about are the condition of the axles, battery, converter, windows, furnace, and door lock, to name a few. We've done some nifty upgrades in the interior and it's real comfy inside!

The dinner Saturday sounds yummy!.....we're bringing a cranberry/apple crisp for dessert. What's the plan for Sunday morning?

I'd like to volunteer to cook breakfast in our Argy......and we have seating for about 10. We could do it in shifts....or all at once....just be patient!

Sounds wonderful! I bet "shifts" will work, as I recall we all don't get up at the same time...

Rent lcd projector?

We could look into renting an lcd projector in Newport for the night. Rentals in Corvallis run about $70/day......it may be less in Newport. It's a possibility. Janet...you might still bring the dvd in case we find something.

Stef, could you bring your big coffee pot?.......we'll do coffee if we have the big pot. And if someone could provide some juice and rolls for Sunday breakfast, that should compliment our egg casseroll to feed everyone. I can also do individual scrambled eggs for folks who want meatless. We may need to use someone's oven to cook part of it.....as ours will only do a smallish dish. Chris........are we estimating about 25 folks attending??

Also, is one easy-up enough to get everyone under cover in case of rain? I could purchase one at Costco if we need more.

Getting closer!

Jim,

We have our easy-up packed in the back of our truck! It doesn't have side curtains, but I think we might have one tarp we can use on a side...

I don't have an oven in my Bambi... or I would volunteer one! I also have a 20+ electric coffee pot if Steph doesn't bring hers. Let me know by tomorrow and I can toss it in. Mine is a perk type. Do you need perk coffee?

We will bring juice, shall I bring paper/plastic cups too?! Sounds fun!

We expect to leave tomorrow morning. It was snowing here today but the roads are still clear. We will be there unless the roads totally close, and then maybe just "late".

WooHoo!

News flash!

Our new awning just arrived! A day early! It is perfect. Our Bambi will look quite spiffy with her new green (naturally) awning! We will get to initiate the awning at the rally.... in the rain!

By the way, does anyone want me to forward my American Express bill this next month???

Snowing here this morning, but we are tough old birds! Anxious to rally!

Now if you think that's embarrassing... you should have seen ME! In preparation to leave I had to get the bumper compartment and some belly pan riveted on... IN THE RAIN!! Not only was it raining overhead but the drainage runs half under the airstream. Needless to say I changed my clothes 3 times, went through a poncho (which I ripped)... so I ended up in hefty bags. (it was so attractive... I didn't photograph it, sorry)

We'll be there Friday afternoon (had to delay a day, due to too much to do).

__________

Chris, I am sorry to hear about your Dad too. Glad you'll still be making the rally.

I think we have a lead on a projector - almost positive!

Chris has an easy up. I s'pose we could bring 2....

DVD and player are packed.

Don never responded I see... no, the flying cloud is still totally disassembled sitting on saw horses outside the garage.... waiting for warmer weather to be worked on. I do think, however, our local deer population that inhabit our backyard sleep under it to stay out of the rain... We will bring our sweet bambi.

See you there! Hopefully. Snow here.
