Thumbs up 2009 Fall Colors Forum Rally

Fall Colors Forum Rally
At the Penn Wood Airstream Park
999 Kindle Road, Limestone, PA16234

Do not follow GPS to this address – Follow the directions on Penn Wood Web Site

Thursday October 1 to Sunday October 4, 2009

Hosted by forum members Dave Fagan (pintoman) Dave, Martin (bike 2 eat), and Carl Deitrich (deitz645)

Come discover Penn Wood Airstream Park in Limestone, Pennsylvania.

The campground is nestled in the heart of Western Pennsylvania’s recreational area. Getting to Penn Wood is a short four mile drive south of Interstate 80 (exit 64) on PA Route 66 south.

So why not stop by and kick back with other forum members and enjoy a long weekend in the scenic Pennsylvania hills. Membership in WBCCI is not required for the rally or any other stay at Penn Wood. The rally dates coincide with the tail end of the annual Clarion County Autumn Leaf Festival (There is no WBCCI Autumn Leaf Rally in 2009)

We plan on an informal long weekend rally. We will have a trailer open “house” (for those wishing to participate) and a pot luck dinner Saturday evening. Weather permitting we will have a bon fire every evening and a great time all weekend.

The campground can guarantee 30 amp electric, water, sewer, digital cable, and WIFI internet connection (in the rally field) for the first 31 trailers to sign up. Some sites have concrete wheel pads and patios. Beyond 31 trailers we can guarantee 30 amp electric hookups, water, and digital cable for an additional 7 trailers (there are dump stations within the campground). There are hard wired Internet connections in the office if needed. All participants will have full use of all the campground facilities and amenities. Cost is 20.00 / night payable by cash or personal check. To reserve your site please sign up on the forum. Propane fills are also available at the campground.

We hope to see many of you there.

Ya got at least one definite now!
At last, the camping schedule for us this year is finally taking form.

We visited Penn Wood during the summer of '06 and fell in love with the place.
I've got a real strong feeling October at Penn Wood ain't too shabby either.

Looking forward to meeting other forum members there.

I haven't talked to the boss yet (probably a mistake) but never-the-less we're a definate maybe. We've never been to Penn Wood, but it sounds great and it looks terrific.

Thanks a lot. We look forward to seeing you all there. Please don't forget to sign up in the rally calendar, even if you are just a maybe.

Ditto - I frequently look at the thread documenting Costalotta's resurrection. That is one quality rebuild and I can't wait to have a look see at her up close and personal.

Maybe it's punishment for all, but hopefully by Oct. we will have gotten into a routine. We're most likely going to attend (Andrea and I plus our two kids age 1 and 3 by Oct. and two dogs, maybe two dogs that is...we might get a dog-sitter). We haven't made our reservation yet but that's mostly because we haven't made any reservations anywhere yet and we have only owned the 'stream now for 2 weeks. We gotta see how the camping season goes. Ya never know, the kids might hate it. Either way, a forum rally really appeals to us and the venue is not only close but looks beautiful. Count us in as a definite maybe.

Jason and Andrea,
Kids hate camping? I seriously doubt it. We just installed a playset for the younger Airstreamers last year. If you come please feel free to bring your dogs, we are a dog friendly Airstream park. There is a large rally field across the creek where you can let the dogs romp and run off leash. Also remember that you do not have to wait for a rally to visit the park. Feel free to stop by any time during the season. There is plenty of room and you don't need to make a reservation. We have a rally the first weekend of every month. We did raise the rates for this year from $18.00 to $20.00 a night .

Also remember to sign up on the rally calendar, even if you are only a maybe. Once you become a firm yes you can change it.

We're not worried about the kids not liking camping...the oldest was tent camping with us in Europe when he was 6 months old and did quite well. He is now the soon-to-be 3 year old and he refers to the AS as "the little house". We're thinking it might be punishment for others because if there's no other kids, then ours will be constantly interrupting the chatting unless we park them in from of the TV with Little Einsteins on, which we don't like to do for 6 hours a day.

As for the dogs, well, they tend to bark their heads off at anyone that walks by. Admittedly they aren't real socialized to other people or pets. Generally when we have traveled in the past, the dogs went to the kennel. However, we hope to be "gone" with the AS so often that the kennel bills would be horrendous and thus we will take the dogs with us. Therefore, dealing with the dogs could be interesting the first few camping trips...hopefully by Oct. they are conditioned.

Don,
Nope, the one in picture in the thread and Rally calendar with the fountain is another lease holder's. Our sie is to the right of the picture and back in the woods. If you're interested yo can see pictures of our site and Penn Wood in general in our galleries...

http://www.airforums.com/photos/brow...0&userid=14487

The one in the picure with the blooming rhododenron is a rig that my wife and I pased on and another lease holder (pintoman here on the forums) bought for his daughter and son-in-law. Nice guy, huh?

We're heading out to PennWood over the weekend of 04/17-19/2009 to open the park and get Savannh settled into her summer digs.

Thumbs up More cool photos!!!

Any rally with Alex and Charon is one that shouldn't be missed.
We saw them last year at the Vintage Trailer Jam and were absolutely amazed.
Any chance they'll make an appearance at the '09 Fall Colors Rally?

Penn Wood is such a cool venue for a big rally.
It very naturally sets everybody up into a wagon wheel formation.
I grabbed this picture because it really reminds me of the wagon wheels they used to have in the old days.

Don,
I am sure I can coax them into making an appearance as Alex has already volunteered to help in any way that he can. They made two performances at last year's Autumn Leaf Rally and were big hits. They performed their pyrotechnics act around the campfire and gave everybody and extra blast of "warmth"

In two weeks we are heading up to open the park and do spring cleaning. Let the season begin

Rollingbuble,
Glad to have you aboard.

It isn't necessary to become a member of the WBCCI to come to the rally OR camp at Penn Wood. But if after visiting a few times and you still want to join we can take care of all the particulars right at Penn Wood. The campground is the home of the Pennsylvania Unit.
