Rally Locations

What facilities/locations are used by Airstream owner rallies that will accommodate up to 150 units/300 people and campsites with water/electric/sewer connections? 'Don't care to attend events(if any) that use tents for rally activities (ie., meals, seminars, etc.).

Thanks,

Fred Hudspeth

hi fred...

fairgrounds (especially near larger cities) often have 100s of sites and buildings for group events.

some mega rv parks (that are not part of fairgrounds) also are used for larger rallies.

often the big wb events, construct ALL of the essentials (water/ele/dump) even in big open spaces, then use the buildings near by...

there are group camp sites in some state parks (150 units might be pushing it)

and we had ~80 units and 100s of people at THIS state park....

and ~50 units/150 people HERE, but could accommodate 100 units with proper timing...

church camps, boy scout camps, the hugh hefner nude dude ranch, and so on host big trayla gatherings...

you can LOOK at the 'good sam' website and see a list of their PAST events and locations often 1000s of rigs.

Re "you asked a vague question WITHOUT any background or focus...

Point well taken. Here's "the rest of the story"...

In addition to the classic Airstream Excella Motorhome, we also own a classic GMC Motorhome. 'Had that one recently remanufactured by a licensed GM facility near Detroit. The Airstream is in Alaska where we spend summers after having lived there for many years. 'Would like to have that one re-done also but in the eleven years we have had it in Alaska, no one has surfaced who can do it the way we want it done.

At the recently completed fall convention of GMCMh owners at the Colorado State Fairgrounds/Pueblo, it was suggested that Airstreamers may know of/have used facilities comparable to needs for GMCMh owner conventions. These events are 6 days in length. They feature tech and general interest seminars in AM lasting into early PM, an array of "camaraderie" events (catered meals, ice cream/shortcake, motorhome "open houses", tech demonstrations, etc.). Most of these old motorhomes are all-electric with small potable water and holding tanks (about 40 gallons each). Hence the need for full utility connections, including 30amp minimum and preferably 50 amp power. There are 150-200 GMCMhs at the semi-annual conventions (300-400 people). At least two buildings capable of accommodating the 3-400 people are needed (had to discontinue using large tents to accommodate the attendees because of the electronics used in the seminars). 'Have been using mostly fairgrounds meeting these criteria but rapidly running out of ideas for new locations.

'Would welcome any better ideas Airstreamers may have for convention locations...
