How to get the water heater out?
Hi there,
I'm still a very new owner and am just stripping all interior out at this stage. Got most out, but the hot water heater in my 1968 Sovereign is very well fixed into the wall. They used staples that are very tough.
Anyone got some tips?
thanks!

Staples? That sounds very odd. Can you post photos?

Ours was built in after it was set. Inter skins installed around the beast.
A ripocating saw was our answer to the problem.

Thanks,
I will try and get some pics, if I can get my camera to work.
It's going to be a tough one as there is not much space for sawing...
Will report back.

I understand what you mean , the factory dented in the cornner of the old tank to fit a vent pipe in,
in the pic I cut and removed temporary the pipe to make for the heater room to go out the side. The iner skin was cut with snips called offset I can get a pic if needed.

several posts on water heater. Mine came out through the ouside, but it wasn't easy. I vaguely recall some hidden fasteners that I had to feel more than see. Pulled mine out from the outside.

I have replaced several over the years and have found that once the screws are all removed from the external flange and the putty tape cut a push from the inside removed every one. The fit is close though, and the putty tape is not willing to give up easily, but each of mine have come out with no sawing.

Thanks, that is really helpful. I will try some different tools for the fasteners and see how I go. I didn't think mine would fit through the vent door but not a problem as my AS is totally stripped now.
