50%? If they were that high there would be way more competition. The capital cost to get into the business isn't that high (compared to, say, medical devices or energy generation).
I'd say 15% is more reasonable. They might be 50% of variable cost.

Remember that part of the "over head" is liability insurance. The sue (?sp) happy public has to get there part of the proffits and we have to pay for it.

I've never owned a vintage coach but seen some real nice ones. I just like having the modern amenities of late ones. So I am thankful that there is a fantastic factory producing wonderful units everyday. I like to think there is a new A/S baby born everyday! And one of them is mine!!!

My initial remark was about "slightly used " recent Airstreams , which have the same modern amenities as new ones.
I never compared new vs vintage. I just wondered if you considered your 99 so outdated that you felt it was an old vintage AS.

Mitch continues to amaze me with daily updates. Are these guys great or what? I agree with Ken, I certainly want to visit these guys. Maybe the factory Homecoming Rally. That would be a blast!

It sure is impressive that an assembly line worker would take the time to do this. Might be nice to write a note to his supervisor or the ceo of Airstream and let them know of his actions above and beyond.

Well she is done and WOW!

She is now in final tests. Toscano said it should be delivered week from Friday. Oh boy! I am going straight to the coast to play. Can't sleep.

Oh Boy! Last pics before my baby leaves the factory for California! And check out Wally's Golden A/S in the background! Is that cool or what? That one will be blown up and framed!

Mitch from the factory said the unit will be at Toscano on MONDAY!!! A whole week early! Well there will be no posts next week from me for I am heading for the coast! Life is good!
