Lug Nuts

Has anyone been able to locate an actual chrome lug nut for the Sprinter to replace these cheesy aluminum caps?

Jeff,

Don't know the size or type on your rig but these guys have a pretty good selection.

Lug Nuts

I really like the McGards, amazon has them in packs of 4. Needed 6 packs to replace all mine. One unexpected benefit; most others require 13/16 socket and require a thin wall spark plug socket to install/remove in wheels with deep recesses. The McGards use a 3/4 socket that easily fits inside my wheels. This applies to 1/2x20 cone seat acorns that fit mine. Other models may be different.

Guys it looks like Jeff is looking for nuts for a Sprinter, right?

Jeff needs to identify size and style?

The Sprinter uses a flat seat so conical or radius lug nuts will not work. It's like the miniature version of 18-wheeler lugs but I haven't seen any decent replacements. I have seen the Gorilla washers that would adapt either a 60 or 45 degree conical seat but I don't have a lot of confidence the conical seat won't fracture over the long term with Sprinter lugs at about 150ftlbs.

I believe mcgard makes flat ones too, but OP needs to find specs. They are highest quality I've found.

Yes he has a Sprinter. This is the Sprinter and B-van forum.

I've never seen chrome lug nuts for a 3500 Sprinter and I've looked many times. The correct lug nuts look like this:
Lug nut for 2007-2014 Sprinter 3500 Steel Wheel - new original part

... or this
DormanĀ® AutoGradeā„¢ 611-295 - Wheel Nut | O'Reilly Auto Parts

Specs:
  • Wheel Nut M14-1.5 Flanged Flat Face - 19mm Hex, 15.5mm Length
  • Hex Size: 19mm
  • Thread Size: M14X1.50
  • Seat Style: Flange
  • Style: Flanged Flat Face
  • Thread Handing: Right Hand Thread
The Interstate has Alcoa Forged Aluminum Wheels and the lug nut covers on mine are chromed steel.

I believe mine are st-st.

Only problem I've had is the depressions that are used to make them a press-fit weren't deep enuf so had to add some tape on a couple of the flats on the lug nuts. The PO had lost two in 4K mi. Got the dealer to replace under warranty.

You are correct -- they are probably stainless steel.

Thanks,

These say they're for Sprinter steel wheels. Will they still work on the Alcoa wheels?

Yes -- 3500 Sprinter steel wheels and Alcoa aluminum wheels use same lug nuts. It's not like the lug bolts on the 2500 that are different lengths for steel and aluminum.
