Univolt replacement?

My Univolt just quit working. I opened it up (I know) the black blob that weighs a ton is all cracked and split, I assume thats not good. It stopped humming and all the fuses were good, so I assume its junk.

What is an inexpensive replacement for the Univolt?

Would this be a suitable replacement?

Is the 45 amp large enough or should I go with the 60 amp?

45 amp should be fine for a single battery like I have in my trailer. I have seen others with dual batteries go for the larger 60 amp converter.

I went ahead and ordered it, no use waiting around. I hated to spend the money.....but I've got to get it fixed before our trip in October. Looks like replacing the roof air will take a back seat for now.

(I guess on a side note, its better to find out now instead of 200 miles away. And I probably saved 30 pounds of weight from that old Univolt, LOL).

I got the new converter mounted and I reused the old fuse block from the Univolt. It works great, the lights all work well, and the fan in the ceiling vent really flys now.

I replaced mine with the 60 amp only because is was only about $20 more at the time I bought it. The thing that I thought was important was that the charging was the three stage. Also, I used the front section of the univolt with the fuses in my installation. This way all I had to do was, install an outlet (I used a 20amp), and attach the inteli-power dc out wires to the univolt fuse box.

Kind of. I mounted my fuse box and converter seperatly to give me a little more flexibility in locating them.

I bought a WFCO 50amp from Randy (Best Converters) and have been very happy with it for two years. I use it to recharge 2 group 24 AGM Batteries.
