'76 Overlander length

I am considering buying a 1976 Overlander from a friend of mine. I have a 28ft long driveway that I want to put it in. It says (on VIN), that it is 27ft-does that measurement include only the trailer, or the bumper and tow hitch? When I measured (airstream only without bumper), I got less that 24ft. Perhaps I measured wrong, but measured 10 times. I just want to make sure I got the right measurement before hauling it from one state to the other.
The VIN is I27D6-S0096. Can anyone help me figure this out? I am totally new to this airstream thing (always just admired them from afar). Are Overlanders made in 1976 only 27ft long? Could I be wrong about the size?

We love our Overlander.

It is 27' from bumper to ball.

D double bed rear bath

1710 serial #

We love the size and the rear bath. We did replace the double with twins just because it was more pratical for us.
