Welcome to the world of confusing standards. Your vintage of Airstream used the older Thetford style, you need this adapter.

Universal Adapter 89-8295 [89-8295] - $6.95 : Out-of-Doors Mart!, More Airstream Parts on-line than anyone!

Septic connection

I purchased a 1962 airstream overlander twin 26 foot trailer, been having trouble finding the the right adapters so I can hook up a slinky hose from vintage to modern septic systems. This has been a really frustrating problem to figure out, I've asked pretty much every rv place that I could think of here in Oregon.I have bought thedfort adapters but they haven't solved the problem either. If anyone else has run into this problem please let me know how you were able to figure out a solution.

Is the waste pipe plastic or metal? If it is plastic and 3" you can get a Valterra adaptor to the Thetford fitting. If it is metal I am not sure what you can do other than modify it.
