City water to Tank water transition?

Getting ready to take our 1980 international on its maiden voyage outside the driveway. I was checking out the water systems and after filling up my fresh water tank, and turning on the pump, I cannot get any water to comeout of the faucets. When I turn on the pump, it just runs and runs and I never get any water out of any faucet. I primed the system with city water, and the pump will not cut on when the swithch is on, but as soon as I open a faucet to releave some pressure and get some water, the pump starts right up, but I can get no more water after an inital trickle. I have read in another forum that this may be due to the fact that I may have a leak in the line from the fresh water tank that causes me to lose vacum. Are there any other valves that I should throw when changing from city to tank water? Guess I will have to stick to the city water for this trip, unless there is a simple solution that I am unaware of!!! Thanks for any ideas!

My trailer has a valve inline just before the pump which allows antifreeze to be pumped into the system. Since I live in a very warm climate, I have never used it. You might check to see if there is one on your system.

Try disconnecting the discharge line from the pump. Then turn on the pump for a short period of time. Water should squirt out. If so, put the line back on the pump, open a faucet and try it.
If you get no water out of the pump with the hose disconnect, check to make sure there is water at the intake of the pump.
