You know camping is good when you say to the dogs we have to go home and they immediately go and sit at the door to the Argosy..

You know camping is good when your 4 year-old asks, "Mommy, which do you like best, Christmas or camping?"
I said, "I don't know, I like them both."
He said, "I like camping best."
Wow.

You know the camping was good when you overhear your teenager telling her friends about the great time she had. ~G

You know the camping was good when your 14 year old daughter admits that she wasn't bored. Wishful thinking but I can hope!

You know the camping was good when....
...you feel a lump in your throat and a tear comes to your eye as you pull out of the campsite and everybody else is real quiet.
Then you all start excitedly planning how great it will be next time.

You know the camping years have been good when you see your kids taking your grandkids back to the places they remember as so special from family trips when they were young. (Parents of teens: have faith; they'll tell those camping stories for years to come, even though now they are acting in PAIN about "having to go.")

...when you get married at the campground where you keep your Airstream, and after a week-long honeymoon, you tell your friends and family that week was the best week of your life.

You know the camping was good when..
Your children (now in their late 20's) still break up laughing when they retell to their friends the stories of sudden rain squalls and tornado warnings and flip flops floating down the river from a 32 day cross country trip 15 years ago.... (Well worth taking the extra three weeks of vacation unpaid...)

You know the camping was good when you have taken your Airstream. Meeting new friends and reconnecting with old ones is a big bonus.

You know the camping is good when...
Bed is too small to rest my tiredness,
I'll take a hill for a pillow, soft with trees,
Now draw the clouds up tight beneath my chin.
God, blow out the moon, please.

You know the camping is good when one of your kids goes back to the family campground of the dozen past years for his honeymoon--the same week the rest of the family is there camping too. "Just couldn't miss it," they said.

I have two...
#1. You know the camping is good
when the kids (in their early 30s) keep asking when can they go on a trip with us.
Hah! Dream on kids... that 34footer is only big enough for the two of us.
This is empty nesting on wheels!

#2 The camping was good when
we turned in early every night and got up just in time for brunch.
At 58, that's priceless!
(I read that as you age you need less sleep)

The camping is good when we sleep in the trailer and the kids sleep in the tent outside.

You know the camping was good when.............
#1 When you camp in the driveway the first night back home.
#2 When you come home with addresses of new friends.
#3 When you have learned a new song over the weekend.
#4 When your daughter tells you that you're going camping next weekend.
#5 The above are quantified by how many hugs you had over the weekend.
