Cost should only involve two people on need to know basis- my spouse and the IRS. If price is important to them and I respect our relationship, I ask them to "guess the cost", and whatever they say,is usually what they can handle so I tell them they are a good guesser.

How about a Jethro Tull song, Pharm on the Freeway? Maybe Dr. Hook's song Penicillin Penny, since it's sorta being funded with drug money.

oooooo....can hardly wait to see pictures of your AS. Have you thought of a name yet? Since you dispense the RX, how about......

Chill Pill
Tranqmobile
Hill Popper
Painkiller
Weekend Pharmacy (ummmmm, maybe not. The police and your fellow campers might get the wrong idea).
my wife likes chill pill.....ill be stewing on names more in the coming 3 months while I wait...

This issue of people asking how much the AS costs though still leaves me a tad stumped....

It seems like most folks so far ask with some idea in mind about how much the guess it is...this number is almost always under the actual cost of a new AS - if told the real cost *shock* ensues...it is annoying and rude...many did not mean it to be...just *sticker shock* for them....

I think I am to the point where I am just going to freaking lie to them and avoid their subsequent *shock* and disbelief "that much?!" and the subsequent annoying judgement that goes along with it.

I tried this out the other day for the first time, and it seemed to work out nicely...I was asked "how much did it cost"...I said "take a guess"...my patient replied "30 grand"....I responded "close, actually ended up being 35K"

Reply by patient "well, that is expensive, but not all that bad"....

Then if they go and look it up for themselves later (most wont, people are lazy) - then I will joking point out that I fibbed to them and why...then they will feel in an awkward position

Give a low ball number. If called on it, just say that is for the base model. Then we add the optional wheels, axles, interior, wiring, plumbing, appliances, propane tanks, LED TVs, cabinets, counter tops, alumumin skin, etc.

Or, for a total shutdown, return the price question with:

"Why do you ask? I was told by my parents it is impolite to ask someone what an object costs."

heh heh, I am pretty settled now on the low ball route....then indeed if needed and they care to press on about it....then go with your option #2....but I expect very few will go on to need option #2....

THat same patient said "what did it cost? 20K"...I said..."well, more like 25K"...he said "whoa, well, its worth it, you will enjoy"....

5th wheel update. About 4 weeks into RVing and I have now stayed at 5 campgrounds. So far in every campground somebody wants a tour of my 2013 Cloud 25. Three 5th wheelers have told me they would rather have an Airstream then there 5th wheel because the 5th wheel is too big. Two have asked how much. Actually I am kind of embarrassed about the whole thing. Surprisingly my 25 footer seems to among the smaller trailers in the campgrounds. A lot of motorhomes and a lot of 5th wheels. There is nothing that I could add to this trailer to make it more comfortable.

I get the same thing, sometimes, when I park my dinky little Interstate next to a ginormous Class A, and I'm completely set up and relaxing under my awning while they're still putting on a show for me sliding out their slideouts.

Which begs the question that I'm not too shy to ask, "If it's too big, why did you buy it?" To which the answer has usually been, "Because we need the space."

Still trying to wrap my head around that one! Need the space, but it's too big?

heh heh, well, not entirely difficult to comprehend...

Ideally, I would own a tent like that from the harry potter movie where they attended a quittage tournament and hundreds of people could walk into this tiny tent and on the inside there was a full bar, bedrooms, bathrooms, seating for hundreds, etc...

But in reality, with size comes some hassles and the elements of compromise are always at play it seems...

It is up to each to decide where they wish to accept what compromises for themselves I suppose....

The grass is always greener also right?

Oh man we get you guys. We have had a number of sob's over the years but always attracted to Airstreams. Yes they are expensive and we did have to take deep breath and give it some thought, but in the end we wanted one. We have had it almost a year and still finding little things that we didn't know it had, like drain tubes for the ac's. All of our other rv's drained on the roof and down the sides.

It does get attention, mostly good but I am sure there are people who do not like them. The bottom line for us is that we like it and feel good in it.

We appreciate it and thankful that we have it.
