Just came back from a work 60 mile road trip to Othello WA. I saw bunches of SOB's and 2 Airstreams in the 1 hour drive down Hwy 395.
Man, am I sad I have to work every week end until June 25.
All the other kids are out playing and I have to stay inside.
We just got back from London and Wales and then will be heading down to Indianapolis for the Indy 500 next week. Following that I will be in Chicago for most of a week. Hardly have had time to play with any of our toys--boat, kayaks and Airstream.
We got back from a good trip, ran solo, we left the tin teepee at home because we had not pulled it much and figured out a 2,000 trip was not a time to learn. we went to albq.,new mexico, el paso, denver and all places in between, saw 10 AS"s, now to learn how to operate ours. We saw a lot of 5rs , it looks like the pull behinds are getting left out of the rv line up.
I cannot speak for others of course, but do come here for good honest, intelligent advice about my tt....
Now if you want "action" you go to the RVForum.. don't know the exact address but you can get it through the Trailer Life/Motor Home Good Sam, etc. if you do a Google search.
Go to Around the Campfire section; there you will get opinions on any subject you can imagine or even don't wish to imagine.

I hope the Forums "campfire" stays alive and well. Yes, we maintain our AS,s, and the advice from the forum is priceless, but then the purpose is so that we get out and travel in them. YOUR travels give me ideas about where we might enjoy going, so please, keep the travel reports going. I hope every Forum member who is getting out for a late spring or early summer trip posts the news right here. I for one am looking forward to your travel journal And if and when we hit the road, I'll share the turns and twists with you afterwards. Keep 'em coming!

I wish I had some stories...I'm clicking around trying to learn and think of some questions, maybe...what's there to do between California and Wisconsin?

What a question! Where would you start? Which route do you want to take? Since you are in Northern Cal, do you want to do a Lewis and Clark trip, heading up to Oregon, treking back along the Columbia, through Idaho on Hwy 12 to Traveler's Rest? Then dip down in Montana to see at least part of Yellowstone (or tarry long enough to see Yellowstone and the Tetons at Jackson Hole, back east again to Devil's Tower and The Black Hills and the Presidents, and along I 90 or drop to I80 and across to Wisconsin? Actually, any one of those highlights would make a trip a drive to remember. That makes you miss the wonders of Minnesota lake country or Lake Superior, our love, but you may want to meander that way on your way home. That of course, all supposes that you have several weeks to travel to get and then enjoy your new baby on the return trip home! What fun to get read all the "best drives" books, state maps, and brochures to plan your travel Keep us posted on your travel plans.

I have been in Carracas and Barcelona Venezuela for the past 10 days working. Be glad you live were you do!!! So much poverty and not safe to walk the streets at all for foreigners. But the people were very nice to us though.
Wednesday we were stopped at a military rode block and singled out for inspection when our driver told the soldiers we were Americans. Kind of weird to be standing on the rode side with soldiers in full riot gear and automatic machine guns being swung around at you while they go thru your stuff. They really freaked out when they found all the Middle East visa/entry stamps in my Passport. My driver was really rattled by the whole experience. I have had this happen a bunch in my travels over the last 2 years, but my traveling partner had never been out of the USA and did not like it at all.
The week before, at the plant we visited, Trade Union negotiations had been going on. The Union was not happy with the way the negotions had gone so they brought in a bunch of armed goons and took the company HR manager hostage for several days.
The whole country is on the verge of civil war at this time. After Chavez fired 80000 PDVSA oil workers during the big strike last year, things have been a powder keg. We got to witness a million person protest march last Saturday. Pretty impressive to see.

BobbyW, it sounds like a risky world in which to travel. From these words and others in your posts, I can see that you have much expertise and understanding of other places and cultures, but please, from one Forum member-and probably many others-take extraordinary care. Who among us really understands our changing world orders? Just concerned.

We're definitely taking the I80 shot through. I am furiously burning music CD's and looking at suggestions of books on tape for the drive...I'm going to post a travelogue of the journey on a web site, to be announced. I'll probably do it on Yahoo so I don't have to worry about logging in and uploading etc. to my ISP. I have a digital camera and plan to take pictures at just about every turn...I've been to Mexico, biked all over Europe, parts of China, just about covered this west coast, but I've never been to the Midwest. They say it's not exciting or whatever...but this is a beautiful country no matter where you are. I will find something interesting to do ANYWHERE I go. (although Aberdeen, Washington was a challenge, on a rainy, misty, bone chilling Thanksgiving eve. We had already driven by Kurt Cobain's old hangouts and were about to settle for walking the aisles of the local Safeway, but the bowling alley was open. AND was serving BEER! Woohooo!)
I hear it's beautiful in Wisconsin, and I am bringing my bike because I hear Wisconsin is an awesome place to ride. Speaking of which, any local casual bike clubs in the Sparta area would be nice, to ride with. I prefer not to ride alone.
