If it is making money for the forum, I guess I can force myself to look at her!

I must be the ultimate sucker here as the only Supporting Member on this page so far.

Looks like I can save a buck next year and get some feminine pulchritude for free.

Sorry Mongo you type faster than I do.

Another point that one might consider. Almost every site you go to on the web wants to set a "Cookie". Many sites also set "Adware" some of which is harmful and some of which just slows your computer down.

Then there are the sites that solicit your information for what ever reason good, bad, indifferent, or to sell. The choice is yours until you hit the Enter Key.

Has anybody seen the "Bathroom shower supplies" ad? I've seen it in the left side bar ad in this thread a couple of times: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f332...tml#post591904

Yowsa! Now that's some shower door, umm, fixture! Hey Gene, there are some of us that are both ancient and functional. That is what you driving at, right?

Jim

Just an FYI, there are other posters in this thread that are supporting members, but they have elected not to display that status after the cursing and gnashing of teeth that went on when the golden rivets began appearing.
As for the ads, we get a "package" of ads, and some of them are more better than others as far as being relevent to our interests here.

This is a touchy area to explore, sort of like politics, though much better of course, and I'm sure your functionality is unquestionable, whether chemically or naturally motored. Yes, we ancient and functional members will truck on (or tow) ever onward and upward.

For several years now, we've paid a minimal annual membership (less than $10) to enable us to view Weather Underground on an ad free basis and customize our views and preferences a bit. We view that web site several times a day. Welcome to Weather Underground : Weather Underground

Sure would be nice to have the same benefit as a supporting member here on the AirForums.

Like a friend of mine that was in the Army used to say, always onward, never upward...

Where's the beef (cakes)?

Linda is out hauling paving stones from the back of the truck to our shed while I sit here web surfing with my broken left metatarsal (newly augmented with a screw and wires). Anyhow she wanted to know where the dating ad with a handsome young guy is?

Knowing how our Canadian friends are so sedate, polite and quiet, the Mods don't permit them to see anything that may unduly excite them.

Quite right too. After all, look what happened the last time we got excited! It took 3 years before the President could move back into his house!

We live in fear you will invade again since our army is tied up right now elsewhere. The CIA keeps feeding Prozac into Canadian water supplies.

On the other hand if the RCMP came, we'd all have health care. I surrender.

So that's why our water is so yummy! At least they aren't messing with our beer.

This is exactly what I would like to see happen. A premium membership that keeps all the ads somewhere else and off my screen. I think the owner of this forum would have much more money in his pocket if he offered that type of membership. I never click any of the ads so no revenue is generated from me by having them there. Take the money up front and let the non-supporting members look at the ads. Hopefully they will click on something and earn the 1-4 cents for doing it.

That may be true, or maybe not. I don't know the numbers.

I wouldn't be in a hurry to find out. If I had to choose between the ad revenue stream and the membership revenue stream, I would stick with the ads.
