I can't wait for "my rivets in a bunch" to come in so I can drill out my nasty battery box. I may have one fabricated and give the plans, pics, etc. to one of the on-line distributors so everyone that wants one will be able to buy one.

It is an addiction, this polishing, be it chrome or aluminum, I know from life experience. Hubby owns Detailing shop, and anything in the silver/shiny category makes him crazy. Old school hands-on guy.

Now you know why we bought an Argosy.

We were at a car show Saturday and stumbled past an aluminum polish dealer...he gave his demo using the bottoms of coke or pepsi cans...and it worked...but is pop can aluminum the same as Airstream aluminum? ...we just stood there staring at him and say anything. I know our AS is alclad.

Nice job on the polish, I was wondering though if that really helps with rear end sag?

Can't believe I missed this post last year. I have a pair of similar vintage aluminum lawn chairs that belonged to my grandparents, but they have the nylon webbing rather than the wood. My plan is to pull off the webbing and replace with cedar or maybe even teak. And, of course, I will polish the aluminum.

But first I've got to finish my trailer renovation...

So Brad, have you ever found a mate for the one?

No, I haven't found a mate for the one I have. Funny as I was just tightening the aluminum screws, polished of course, that hold down the cedar about half an hour ago.

Still looking...

Ouch!

Look at the price tag on that one! Better keep cruising the flea markets and thrift stores!!! Your chair looks great! How much weight does that add to the AS??? LOL!

Shiny things

You know you have it bad when you see the nice shiny milk tanker trucks on the road and refer to them as "Airstream wannabees"!!!!!

Thank goodness I don' have the polishing disease. I think all its nicks, dents, scratches are just fine.

Trust me, you'd have a line of trucks out of the driveway. If you are ever short on cash, go down to the local truckstop and start polishing wheels and tanks !

It's getting worse. As time goes by, I start noticing Airstreams in people's yards hidden behind trees. Or any metal trailer. I'm afraid I'll drive into something while straining to see what kind of trailer it is.
