Done feels good

This week I reduilt the street side cabinet to hold new refer and microwave, looks very original, ordered new converter, bought Optima battery, and insalled new BAL stabilizer jacks. I must say it feels good to get someyhing done. I am thinking axles now, and of going somewhere.

I guess done is the wrong word. I'm done with that, but I dont think I will ever get done. This may be a life long project, my two jobs are taking up too much of my time.

Nice Ambassador. We love pics of it all. The refrigerator looks nice. I'd go with the original wood panels. Two jobs can certainly get in the way.
You mentioned axles. Have a look at my very own axle thread. It might help you save some headaches.

Top, I have looked at your thread and it is helpful. Unfortunately the original refer panels did not come with my AS. I think I may get a sheet of 1/4" walnut and make some. I dont like the idea of black, and I like the original look. I'll try to put more pics on later.

That would look great! I'm all for original! (except adding gray tanks to trailers without) You can take a panel door to a good paint/finish store and get a finish to match.
One axle place that I have not heard anyone talk about is Al-Ko Kober. They have a factory in Oklahoma. I'd like to see them installed under an Airstream.

I looked at their web site but the mounts and axle tube did'nt look friendly to an AS. We have a Dexter plant about 20 miles west of OKC. I talked to a trailer supply that can get them with no shipping. I may go that rout but I have"nt puled the trigger yet. I agree about the grey tank, but that will be a project for later. My wife said not to start something I cant finish before sspring/summer.

I actually called them. They said they could make the axles no problem. (I have ordered new Axis axles from Colin Hyde) That is good advice from the wife! I hadn't planned on starting such an extensive repair, but the more I got to looking.....

Is yours a rear bath, What grey tanks are you getting, and how/where are you installing them? Colins not out yet, I'm still considering his axles.

Yes I have a rear bath. I'm installing two Ronco 17H tanks plumbed together for the gray water. I am installing them just aft of the axles between the crossmembers. Ronco was great as far as price and customer service are concerned. I'm also installing a Ronco 17H for a replacement black tank. All three tanks were $502 including shipping.
The great thing about getting axles from Colin is his knowledge and customer support. His prices are unbeatable as well. I have talked to him on the phone many times while taking measurements. He has given his expert advice on many other things in my restoration. The fact that he is a true "Airstreamer" speaks volumes.
