Great collection. What is the status now? Have rebuilt Deere engines in the past. Glad to advise.

Twin Engine Trucks

Well, in the 30s and 40s, Ford built some trucks, sometimes used as fire engines, with dual flathead V8s mounted side by side. Mainly for more power. The flathead V8 is really to small for a truck engine, so two. Does this count?

Actually, Jeff, it's a 219. An odd-ball model for Mercedes. It has the rear half of the 190 models, but the long nose, and engine option of the 220. My friend has a Diesel 190, barely visible in one of the pictures. But htat i a bit too slow for me. The 219 can hang with traffic no problem, and is fast up the hills.
The 220S also had a longer ra door, and a different dashboard with a bit more hardwood on it.
I did not really know what this was when I first bought it, just thought it was cool and had to have it. Took 2 years to get it freshened up. That was 8 years ago, now it's on round 2 - the mechanical restoration.

Thanks, David. It is one of my three transportation modes these days..bicycle, motorcycle, or this old Benz. I try and leave the Suburban for work and towing duties.
The car has a solid and heavy feel to it, it glides over bumps and sits firmly on the road. Enjoyable!

Another shout out to the Sweeds
"Way" back in 1990 a friend of mine in highschool bought a 1968 Volvo 144 on is parents credit card. Since it was one of the few vehicles any of us had, it was keep it running or walk. This was Oregon and therefore almost always raining, so we got pretty good at keeping it running
That came in handy 7 years latter when the cute girl from the coffee shop needed someone to fix her 1969 Volvo 142S
After we got married and moved to Colorado, some nimrod tried to park his Bronco in the trunk while driving home from the bar.
Funny thing, it almost fit.
Insurance money from that went into a 1970 145s, AKA "The Anvil"
(thats not my bus, Pic was taken in the PO's driveway)
Having young kids (2 & 5) has precluded me from doing to much work on it, but next on the list is to rebuild a pair of SU's to replaced the mucked up Webber thats smoking away in it.
Also in the mix was my first TV, a 1979 Ford F250 Supercab 4X4 Ranger Camper Special. With an 8" Skyjacker lift, 36" mudders and Lincoln 460 shoe-horned under the hood. We called it the Bohemouth.
Jeez I wish I had a picture of that beast. We sold it when we moved to Colorado. It got 7MPG in the city, 11 on the highway at sea level, I couldnt fathom what it would get up here at 6000 ft

Hey El Jefe
Good luck with your show. Take pics and post them. Are you taking the caddy along with the trailer?
The distance is just a tad too far for us for a weekend cruise although with all the rain we are having I'm sure it wouldn't take much to convince my bride to pack up and head that way....

One of my neighbors had a similar Volvo until two years ago. He bought it at a garage sale, drove it for ten years, spent almost nothing on maintenance, and now regrets selling it. He's never seen another one is as good condition as the one he had - it looked like it was brand new when he bought it and like a two year old car pampered car when he sold it. Not bad for a 1971 car. I'll makie sure I show him the picture of yours just to put a bit of salt in his wounds... .
Now if they could just pull an Airstream.............

That would look much better with a SAFARI in tow. I have hunted the great White tail hornet and Yellow Jacket Nest in the belly of the beast.
Much more sporting as the hunter can become... the hunted.

That trailer looks great at night. It looks like it was nice and warm - particularly seeing that on a day when my lawn is white and the rain is soon to hit.

Just as a point of information....
The FIRST time that the word 'CLASSIC' was attributed to cars, was back in 1953 when the CLASSIC CAR CLUB OF AMERICA was created. They defined a 'Classic' car to be one great expense and highly engineered in the period 1925 to 1947, such as Duesenberg, Packard, Cadillac, Pierce Arrow, Rolls Royce, Bugatti, Mercedes Benz etc. (Not all models of all makes qualify.)
My collection is mainly 1925 and 1937 Packards.

So because a small group of hobbists declared in 1952 these dates would only be allowed to be called classics, we can not consider ANY vehicle made after that date? Who died and declared them King?
I guess we stand corrected.......thanks for the buz kill.
So how about Collectible Classics?

Safari62, that's a great picture. One of my buddies has that style of trailer in his back yard, and he's the one who just bought a '53 Flying Cloud .
As for a specific date that determines whether a car is one thing or another IMHO I agree with you - it was maybe right for that specific time and place and those specific people but within a year or two it was already outdated.
Anyway, my insurance company which happens to be owned by the Government, uses 1964 as a cut off date as the criteria for a Classic Car at this time and will advance that again when it makes sense.
And it doesn't matter to me what people call it for me. It is what it is in the miinds of the people who see it and want to talk about it and that's the criteria that works for me .

I needed a decent trailor for my 1957 imperial so I got myself a 1973 27 ft overlander.
A few of the other cars are a 1965 mustang needs restoration but lost interest to many of these things around am now seling it in parts.
A 1932 pragha will be a hot rod within the next 20 years or so if I find the time, already did a 5 inch chop and hace a jaguar rear end and a rover 3500cc V8 for it.
A 1973 pontiac grand prix needs a little welding and a gallon of flat black paint ( wifes toy)
a 1981 suzuki LJ 80 I blew the 800 cc engine now with a 2.8 liter V6.
a 1983 ford F350 dubbelcab long bed .
a 1997 ( the newest car I ever owned) mercury sable
Had a near mint 1959 thunderbird sold the car becouse wife did not like it
no power seats no electrick windows and no power stearing
I blew the 392 hemi of the imperial 2 years ago.
Ordered all the parts to make it a fast 392 incl a 6-71 supercharger.
8.5 to 1 compresion 15 PSI boost propane ( 110 octane ) fuel
now I upgraded to a 1986 32 ft exella but with the hemi I still should be able to do a 0 to 60 well within 10 sec with the trailor.
