Waiting for release from the plant

My 25 FB Globetrotter was due to come off the line last week but I'm told they were missing a few (non chip) components before they "release" it for shipping. Then I'm told 3 weeks for shipping and detail at the dealer. So what do you think? Will I get it by mid February or will I be strung along awhile?

So excited I could just pee! LOL

Our FC 25RBT was originally scheduled to come off the line 1/14, than 1/4 and finally 12/14. Early last week I asked where it was. Told it was stuck waiting for a refrigerator and then 2 days later I got word it was released and pending shipping schedule. Dealer thinks it should arrive in a couple of weeks. One would think they could be more exact but for whatever reason it is a mystery. Hope you get a good word soon.

Hopefully it will resolve soon. Last year we were held up on delivery due to the foam mattress issue caused by the unusual freeze and plant closures in Texas. Was just a few weeks but seemed forever. Waiting is the hardest part.

Which dealer did you purchase from in Texas?

Congrats on your new Globetrotter.

Hi

Our van spent about a month bobbling back and forth between the plant and the "ready to ship" parking lot. It then took roughly another month to get 2 days down the road to the dealer.

Hi

The gotcha with shipping is that there is a big time shortage of drivers. This applies to way more than hauling RV's around. It also is a problem for the entire RV industry, not just AS. Predicting just when any vehicle gets transported is pretty much impossible these days. That's true of AS and equally true of Ford delivering a car or a truck ( I have data on all of the above ).

Hi

If you hop off the toll road as you go past Elkhart IN, pretty much every third house has a sign up in the front yard saying they would be happy to help you become a delivery driver.

My guess is that you need a commercial driver's license and a clean record. They probably want you to pass a drug test as well. For "tow it" trailer delivery, I'd bet you supply your own truck.

Based on the last driver I talked to (as he dropped off a trailer in front of the house), pay is pretty good these days.

Congratulations New Airsteamers

Congratulations on your new airstream.
Welcome to a community of adventures and dreamers. Worth the wait.
It’s wonderful owning an airstream. The real silver lining are the folks like yourselves that we meet on our journey.
Start making reservations. Plan adventures. The journey is just begun.
You’re always home in an Airstream. We are so grateful .It has been our sanctuary during the opening and closures during this pandemic.
Currently 20 feet from the sand in San Onofre Oceanside ,California . It’s a beach house this week.
See you down the road neighbor’s.

Best of luck with that....when I bought #2, they flat out refused to let me pick up at the factory....and honestly, with all the QC issues, it's prob better that a dealer gets it first to minimize the angst.

We're OK awaiting delivery on an Interstate 19, expected this month or in February. It has to go to Traveland RV dealers in Langley, BC (outside of Vancouver) even though we are a day's drive away in eastern BC and they have other dealerships that are closer. Between Omricon, tons of snow in the mountain passes, and needing to drive with mandatory snow tires through April, we intend to store it there till spring.

The East Coast US snow storms got a lot of media attention, but we've had major snow accumulations here, as well.

In addition to shortages of drivers and parts, I wonder if AS production has been affected by workers out with Covid. (Not trying to start a vaxxer/anti-vaxxer argument here: just wondering.)

Hi

Just like a car or truck, an RV is shipped with various things still needing to be done. The dealer does that work when the car, truck, or RV arrives. If you hop into one that has just been delivered, it's pretty obvious that there are things to be done.

Agreed.

In our case, our sales rep said that AS Central really wanted the staff at the Langley head office to do the initial explanations/run-through with us, plus the first night stay on their lot, vs. staff at one of their other regional centers.

If the sales rep or mechanic run-through is something AS is now insisting on, I can see why they might want this done at the dealership vs. the factory.

My 27FBQ was scheduled for 3/7, then 3/14, now 3/23. I ordered from Colonial. Sales rep, Kevin, said they are very short on delivery drivers so I got the same story others have. Our first trip is schedule for 4/20. I don’t see that happening. It’s just a long weekend shakedown, but I see that being pushed out a few weeks. I’m recalibrating my expectations to be early May.

Airstream DFW was the only dealer I could find that already had the exact model we wanted a fully loaded 25RBT on factory order. We placed a 10k deposit in September and it is arriving at DFW Monday or Tuesday this coming week. All I got to do now is get the new 50 gallon fuel tank system installed in the truck. Picking it up on 2/1.
