Window Rock Guard Chip Repair

Our center window rock guard has a star shaped chip/crack. About 2 inch cracks. How have others repaired this? Ours is a 2017 27FCFBT.

Did you have any luck repairing this? I also have a 2 inch star shaped chip in my rock guard window on my 2018 16’ Bambi Sport. Aside from replacing the entire guard, any home remedies or products suggested on that material to keep it from spreading?

I had a stone impact on my window rock guard.

I cut a strip of clear 3MMM packing tape, cleaned the back side of the plastic, and stuck it over the 'star impact'. Cut it larger than the impact was all it took. It prevented the crack from getting larger and worked perfectly. Barely noticed by those looking.

It will eventually get another impact that may be worse... so a penny of prevention is worth more than a piece of flimsy plastic that ripples and will no doubt encounter another errant stone.

Cost: $.005 cent off of a roll I use to pack and tape cartons to mail.

Use a small diameter drill to drill holes at the end of each leg of the star. Inject superglue, acetone or MEK into the crack.

I lost the rear window of the trailer and had to repair it. If the frames are still of the extruded aluminum type they are held together at the top and bottom seam with metal pieces pressed into place. I made a puller that allowed me to jack the frame apart and then had a piece of plastic cut to size and reassembled the frame.

The jacking tool was necessary because over time the aluminum and metal corrode togeather and require some force to get apart.

My thought this was the swinging plastic 'rock guards', not the glass window itself.

My solution is for the swinging plastic 'glass window guards' on the side or the large front guard. Not GLASS... and Lumatic has that covered.

My personal opinion is:
- the side curved plastic guards are firm and retain their shape over years of exposure to hot and cold.

- the center rectangle plastic guard... not only shrinks but ripples. If you look on the frame on the inside, you will find paper spacing. Obviously from removing to protect the plastic from scratching. When the plastic shrinks, this papers comes out. Also leaks...

My comment was meant to to show what may is necessary to replace the Plastic in the center window.

As for the curved sections I have replaced on of them after they have blew open at 65 mph and flattened the frame. c. I happened to be going south the first time it just blew open. The plastic held but the frame partially flattened. Used a Palm tree trunk to curve the frame and kept going. The second time the plastic shattered and had to wait till I got home for that repair. Luckily there were enough pieces to make a pattern for the replacement plastic. Dimensioning a pattern for the curved frame would have been fun.
