City water problem.

It appears that the City Water is running into the fresh water tank. Any one with an idea on this? I believe I have seen it here somewhere but can’t find it now. It’s a 20’ 2019 FC FB. Thank you for any and all help.

Probably because the check valve in your pump has some grit in it, or simply failed, allowing city water to flow backwards into the water tank IMO.

You should always use an inline RV filter in the hose, both when filling the tank, and when on city water, especially if your water source is from a well.

Turn off the city water, use the tank water, and turn the pump on and off a dozen times or so [with a faucet open] . . . usually the grit will clear out on its own. You may have to replace the check valve or pump if the problem does not resolve itself. You might also want to check all your faucet aerator filters for grit. One bad batch of water, from the back forty, can clog up the works all over.

Good luck.

Thank you for your quick reply. I always read your advice, you seem to know your way around the FC very well. Do you know the best and easiest way to get at the pump? Do I need to remove it to get at the check valve? On the 20’ model, where would I install accumulator? Lots of ??? Joe

Thanks, but this seems to be a fairly common problem in any trailer with a water pump . . . . . . as those search results show.

The pump is curbside under the stove in our 2014 . . . remove the big drawer and have at it. Not sure about the check valve.

Accumulator under the bathroom sink, in the 20-footer thread here. [hot link in blue]
