Anyone seen this before?

Looks like water or something got under our molding? Hope it’s still under warranty, thoughts on maybe a quick fix or just let airstream tackle it?

If your trailer is still under warranty, document it immediately with Airstream.

If the warranty is done, and you want to replace that flexible molding it comes in rolls, peal and stick.
ODM has it in vinyl/chrome, 1/2" wide ~$2 per ft and 1" wide ~$3 per ft

No water just the belt line chrome trim peeling. Very common problem. Very easy fix. While you are at it you can seal the hard and upgrade the mild steel hardware behind the lower trim to stainless steel.

Get it replaced under warrantee...but be prepared to replace/repair it again before too long.
I just installed 3m reflective tape on ours. 1" & 1.5" wide. Reflective, 9005 blue.

Worked... well and looked pretty good.

Good Luck

There was a thread on this for another 2017 or 2018 Classic that had the same problem. If I remember correctly, the molding was put on upside down so water could get in but not drain. I believe the original poster was able to take the handle off, got a new gasket and fixed the problem. I think mine may be upside down as well but I’m not absolutely positive (no water yet) but I’m watching. Right now it’s stored and not getting rained on.

Thanks guys. Bob, tape looks great!
I’ll wait for airstream to fix it under warranty. Added it to my list, excited to see the main airstream base in April

I do think the tape looks good. It is a much easier install with 4 hands, wouldn't have turned out so well without the DW's help.
I only found the tape after replacing the "plastic chrome" twice. 🥴

I like Simi. Glad we left Cali! Shooting in Thousand Oaks followed by that big fire. It actually went through our old neighborhood. Happy to be on the road full time in the airstream!

I also had to have my lower belt molding replaced due to the same issue when the chrome layer pealed off. The new molding will not stick well if the old adhesive is not completely removed, which was not done well by my dealer. Cold and wet also make adhesion difficult.

I ended up adding some 3M VHB tape under the replacement molding to make it stick better.

My 13 year old Belt Line and Belly Band Chrome needs to be replaced so it all matches. The original chrome looks okay however the AS Factory removed about 30 feet of it when a line of rivets came loose. Now the replacement chrome is pealing off. I need to find a better/proven replacement option. A brand that might be available on eBay or Amazon would be great. Sizes are 1 inch and 1/2 inch.

Yes, they replaced all chrome belt around the entire trailer (not just impacted sites). Very impressed with airstreams approach to warranty work.
