Newby Question - Parts and Accessories Online

Hi all - first post, first question about our first Airstream! We are new to Airstream and RV-ing - total NEWBIES!!!

We are very excited to own our 23FB, but wanted to get some recommendations of the best places online to order parts and accessories. At the moment I'm looking for recommendations on trailer security items such as trailer hitch locks and tandem tire locks.

Thanks

Google what you need and there will be plenty of choices.

Coupler lock = Megahitch coupler vault. It has it's limitations, but is a reasonable compromise. Next is the heavy duty long shank padlock to secure the safety chains with no available excess so the chains are less of a connection alternative.

Tire boot. Found a local shop with a boot for about $200, but after much deliberation we went with a secured storage solution. Gets eyes on the trailer 24/7 and keeps it out of the sun and weather. Some folks have suggested that removing the tires is a better solution for medium to long term storage. Pat

PPL Motorhome supply in Texas is an excellent online source (google it). I've bought numerous item from them, an Equalizer WD hitch, Tailgater satellite dish just to mention the expensive items. Register with them to get email notification of sale items & don't let the name deter you as they sell all RV parts not just Motorhome items. BTW welcome to the Airstream community & forum.

The stuff from Airstream store is on the high side when it comes to money, they have a sale twice a year one in January and one in August or September.

I have found that there are other supplier's of parts and Amazon is a good place to look, join a local Airstream group before you go out and get things and see what other AS have done, could save you a lot of money.

ETrailer

I've found some pretty good stuff at ETrailer. especially locking pin for receiver shaft..... when looking at coupler locks remember that the AS lip is wider than most trailers... you can search here and find the dimension and what coupler locks will work best

Jim-N-Kar, we have reused ebay, amazon and the like as well as Lone Star RV on I45 North, Camping world on the Katy, heck, even some auto part stores. Yes PPL as well.

I use a Bolt receiver lock, LifeTime coupler lock, and have used our Bal-X-Chocks on our 23. I don't think they will fit on our 28 with 16" tires though, but haven't tried.

I depends on what you want and is right for you. I even carry 10' hardened chain an locks.

Research what you think is best for you then browse anywhere to get it if possible.

Good luck and Happy traveling.

All of the above mentioned are excellent resources. I personally would avoid Inland Rv as their service and follow up are horrible.

Always remember, if someone wants your RIG they will take regardless of how you lock it up, sadly it the world we live in today.

Need to have GOOD Insurance with replacement cost, We always camp in good / safe areas and don't worry about it.

The X-Chock Tire Locking Chock, 2-Packl locks work very good and will fit the 16" tires on sales @ Camping World and Megahitch Lock for Airstream Hitch & 1/2" Span Coupler Lock Set, also on sale at CWorld, but check Amazon these will lock it down.

I am going out this weekend and will take some pictures of other stuff that could help you with camping.
