Patching the old cable-phone outside jack

Hi.
Decided I'd never use these connections and the plastic cover was at the end of its life, and leaked a bit. And it was out of square, aggghhh. So 6/32 nutsert's, and I struggled getting one of them off center of the original hole. Deburred the stainless plate and put a heavy bead of TremPro under the edge.
Happy Travels!

Soooo wondering what do you do for sites with cable hookups? I also don't need the phone, but do use the cable tv on occasion? Getting set up to go to Jackson Center next spring...a bid deal from Oregon so totally want to get my laundry list set.
Thanks,
Bob

Hi baggs. I purchased a stainless plate from Lowes, but it was magnetic. Low grade stainless is magnetic and will still corrode. I ended up getting another plate from an electrical supply wholesaler. Non magnetic = high grade stainless. I spent quite a bit of time de-burring the plate. I didn't want it digging into the Airstream aluminum. I wrapped all the electrical ends individually with electrical tape and shoved everything in the hole in case anyone ever wanted to restore the connections.

Hi bweybright. I don't watch TV much. And if I do it's streeming something from my smart phone or renting a movie from redbox. So it wasn't important (for me) to have a cable connection. I actually live in my Airstream and reside in a park that has free cable and I have never connected .

Happy Travels .

Ah, makes total sense. Thanks for clarifying.

Great solution to the problem.

Makes me wonder why Airstream stopped using lower compartments inside the belly pan & under the floor for things like this. My telephone and cable connections are in the belly pan compartment where the shore power cord is stored, and the whole thing is out of the weather and protected from water.
