Clear Coat Polishing

How do I get the Aluminium exterior to a finish similar to when they left the factory. Can I use a mop and polish on the clear coat or shall I Strip the clear coat and re apply?

Thanks

What Year?

The aluminum and the factory finish depends on the model year.
That being said, clear coat can be "buffed" with varying degrees of success, I am told. I have never tried it.
In my experience, clear coat cannot be "polished."

Buffing Clearcoat

The clear has to be in good condition and still have an adequate thickness.

Most often a clearcoat safe polishing compound will work very well. Be certain to follow the directions on the label for application equipment . Don’t just guess at it. Not every buffer and pad will work well.
If the clearcoat is yellow, chalking or failed in some areas, give up and have it recoated before it gets any worse. The longer it is left go the more it will cost.
