What is the correct torque?

Hi All,
Just purchased a 2004, 28' Classic and the dealer told me to assure that the torque for the aluminum wheels be kept at 110 ft. lbs. every day before I travel. Wanting to do it right and not hurt the trailer I've been doing just that during our 8 day, 2,400 mile maiden voyage. This is the first chance I've had to sit at a computer and ask for help! Still 500 miles from home and don't want to break anything.

The manual calls for it to be 85 ft. lbs. for the aluminum wheels which is right? 110 sounds like it's way too much . . .

Comments please!

Mike

My 25' Safari manual says to check and tighten the wheel lugs at before each trip, after excessive braking and following winter storage. Torque aluminum wheels to 110-120 Ft.Lb. (95 Ft.Lb for steel wheels.)

Hi,
Very strange that my manual calls for 85 ft. lbs. on aluminum wheels. Perhaps a moderator or a "many rivited member" will reply. Thanks for responding.

We have an '05 25' Safari. Our manuals call for 110-120 foot pinds of torque for our alloy wheels. We split the difference and torque them to 115.

Okay, I hear you.
Perhaps something is different between the 28' and 25' models. I rechecked the manual and it calls for 85 ft lbs in two different locations. Still confused. . .
