Mud flap ground clearance?

How much ground clearance should my solid mudflap have above the road when towing to not pick up gravel etc. on bumps or dips. The instructions with the hitch mounted flaps had no specifics. Thanks.

hi 'grey

1-3 inches after hitching up and springing the spring bars...

are they enkays?

there are several threads here on the enkays...

search enkay or nk or rock tamers, for lots of pictures and tips...

cheers

2air,
THey are Road Wings so they do not have the tilt capability of the enkays but hook to the hitch in a similar manner. R/Haze gray and underway.

hi 'grey

i have no experience with the road wings...

someone who does will jump in soon.

IF they are as stiff as the enkays 1-3 inches is about right.

at 1 inch mine did drag when turning sharply or backing into some sites...

but none of this kicked up rocks.

they are now at about 2.5 inches when hitched and never drag...

cheers
