We are so excited to have our 25' international on order. We own both a 2014 Toyota Tundra and Sequoia. I know the Tundra will do just fine but the Sequoia, I'm afraid, won't handle the trailer. Has anyone out there towed with a Sequoia?

I am towing a 25' safari 1988 that weight around 5800 lb ready for camping with a 2015 toyota sequoia. It tow very good and have a lot of power. GVWR of my trailer is 6300, but your new trailer must be higher than that. For information, I have a Hensley arrow. Don't expect too much on the mileage ..

The Sequoia will do just fine. I have towed our 1972 29' Ambassador about 18,000 miles with our 2002 Sequoia.

The advantage of the Sequoia over the Tundra is independent suspension for the rear axle, a more stable platform with greater roll resistance. A slight advantage of the Tundra is a longer wheelbase, a little more sway resistance.

The Sequoia is among a short list of SUV's I would like to have for our 25, with reservations only about it's fuel economy numbers.

My sister in law tows a 20' SOB with a Seqoia, Reese hitch, anti sway, no WDS. She does not like it, says the truck struggles a bit. It does not look like it was equipt with a tow package, but it does have the 5.7.

I will drive it at some point, but I have not yet so I can't comment. It may be fine, and I think it would. She is the only one I know who does not like the Sequoia for towing. Matbe she just doesn't like towing, I don't know.

I met a couple towing a Safari 25rb with a Sequoia 5.7L on my trip to Utah in June. They were pleased with the Sequoia. I did notice the payload sticker was between 1300 and 1400lbs. I would think the Sequoia would get similar mileage to the Tundra. I'm sure the drivetrain/transmission/differential is the same. On my trip from Missouri to Utah and back towing my 25fb with my 2010 Tundra I averaged 11.9mpg hand calculated. Towed around 60mph.

We tow our 2013 25' Flying Cloud Rear Bed Twin with a 2012 Sequoia 5.7L with tow option & ProPride hitch with no problems since we got both a little more than a year ago.

Supreme test will be next month when we cross the Rockies on eastbound I-70 through the Eisenhower Tunnel.

I have a 2008 Sequoia 5.7 Limited w/ tow package and have pulled our 2007 Safari 25 FB (bought in 2010) fine with our Propride hitch...it pulls like a dream! Gas mileage is about 11 when towing.

Have pulled the trailer from South TX to Yellowstone, Los Angeles, and WI/MN (twice) areas with no problems. Now we are in MN and plan on taking the trailer to NC next summer.

Oh Yeah! I have pulled two trailers with dry weights of 4,500 to 5,000 lb. very successfully with my 2005 Sequoia (4.3 liter engine, same displacement as a 283 cubic inch Chevy). Just one of the great features of this vehicle is the load-leveling adjustment that allows us to lower the trailer hitch and slide under the tongue, then raise back up. I pull at 60 mph and the unit is very stable. I live in the mountains, so I navigate some 10 percent slopes. On the worst long ones coming up the Blue Ridge front, I drop down to 35 or 40 mph as the Sequoia gears down, depending in part on what my additional load is on any given trip. But there is no strain on the vehicle, usually passing 18-wheelers coming up the mountain. I have shown some of my friends who own Chevy and Ford pickups and they can't believe it. (And I'm sure your Sequoia is a 5.7 liter engine, so you will have no trouble with it having the torque to handle a 25-foot Airstream.) Go for it.

Oops. My Sequoia Limited is a 4.7 liter V-8 (rather than 4.3).

I recently pulled my 1968 Overlander 26' with my 2002 4.7 liter Sequoia on a week long trip without problems, though it works on the hills. I don't yet have a balancing hitch or anti-sway anything and it pulled solid and true at 60-65 mph. A little sag in the rear of the TV, but not bad!

I tow my 25' FC RB Twin with a 2012 Sequoia. It has the tow package and the 5.7 l engine. Just returned from a 5800 mile trip to Nova Scotia and PEI. Last year Grand Canyon and southern Utah parks, etc. Home is Fairhope, Alabama. I researched all the SUV's prior to buying the Sequoia and this tow vehicle is perfect. It does love the gas (about 11 mpg) when towing, but I am completely satisfied otherwise.

I've towed my FC 27' with my 2015 Sequoia for over 10,000 miles now, including through Utah and Colorado last spring. It does just fine....I use the tow haul mode and S gears, mostly in 2WD. Mileage about 11 mpg.

Note, Tundra factory tow mirrors will fit a Sequoia (2007 and new models). Very easy install, I did it at a campground.

Make sure you get the real Toyota mirrors, the aftermarket ones are problematic. Found the best price on Amazon. You will lose the power folding feature unless you spring for the real expensive ones.

You will do FINE with the Sequoia. I tow my 34' Panamerica with a 2010 Tundra 5.7L (Short Bed) with ease. It has a factory tow package. The WDS hitch was fine tuned by CanAm RV (London, Ontario, CAN). They also installed a brake controller for the trailer. Call Andy (Owner); VERY knowledgeable about tow vehicle issues and SOLUTIONS! I am certain that your Sequoia will be more than able to handle the task. I've done mountains and found this: you'll get about 10-13 MPG; flat highway about 16/17 MPG; city w/o trailer about 13 MPG. Going diesel with SOB vehicle will yield better mileage BUT you'll pay $$$ for the rig. We wanted a long lasting comfy tow rig rather than a big Tonka toy as a everyday use vehicle. I like the big Tonka's (Hey, I'm a GUY!) - just don't need one!

If the drive train is the same, it will come down to payload, or your preference of one over the other.

I tow gently and get 13.5 mpg. I consider this very good mileage. Hey, you are towing a trailer. Nothing is going to give you great mileage. I am on my way to the Outer Banks now. Computer says 14.4 mpg after 220 miles.

Call Andy and run with whatever he tells you. You might consider a run to his shop. Getting the right hitch dialed in is very important. You only have to do it once.
