Bentley TV?

Just curious if anyone tows with the Bentley SUV? There is a new diesel version for 2018 that looks like quite a vehicle, although not going to be available in the US, so you'd have to settle for the 600 HP gasser. At $230K it's only something I can dream about anyway, have always drooled over their cars. Heck the price of American trucks is getting near 100K.

I'm sure it would be an excellent tow car. Can Am RV should be able to construct a nice receiver for it.

Bentley is part VW. The Bentayga shares the same platform as the Touareg/Cayenne/Q7 and has the same 3500 kilo (7716 lbs) towing capacity. An electronically retracting tow bar can be optioned. I played around with their configurator. It lacks a feature that I've always seen--prices.

I can just imagine the sleek silver Bentley, towing a mirror-polished Airstream, driven by a liveried chauffeur, with the owners in the back seat gliding gently to a stop in the campground, private and exclusive, of course.

Followed closely by an inconspicuous support van carrying the butler, chef, maids, and ladies-in-waiting that leap out and set up the campsite, cook and serve the dinner....talk about Glamping, HUH?

Hi

For the same TV + TT budget, you have a *lot* of choices. I can think of a lot of ways to spend that sort of cash .....

Do not know whether the source reliable, but it states

(...)Claimed to be the most powerful SUV in the world, it has a 3,500kg (7,716 lb) tow rating in Europe.(...)

Likely no designed for towing in the US tough...

You know European towing specifications are different than here, so the only thing that matters are what the axle ratings are anyways

And the hitch. The Euro hitch is a metric ball size, usually not compatible with weight distribution equipment, and the ones I looked at didn't have a place to attach safety chains. Would be surprised if Bentley in NA developed a North American spec hitch given projected sales volumes. Which means that the NA distributor may use a variation of the "not designed for towing" line in their owner's manual.

Hi

I think the more basic question is "would any real owner want to tow?". If they already have six other vehicles, it probably is not the first choice for pulling a trailer. Before you go nutty about "how could anybody own that many expensive vehicles" ..... come visit Carlisle PA for a while ... six is a pretty small herd and the list on the Bentley does not make it "expensive" by some standards ...

Yes, it is a crazy world. I even hear that they still make big aluminum trailers ...

Bentley?
Nah.

I have people who take it to the campground for me.
Towing is so plebeian.

I don't see why not.

Back in the 1960's my Mom, Sister and I were camping at the beach and a black Rolls Royce pulling an Airstream took the spot next to our VW Beetle and tent setup.

They even dressed for dinner. Him in a tux and her in an evening gown with pearls.

Their uniformed chauffeur/butler (Yes, that is true.) then served them hot dogs and macaroni and cheese. (The exact meal we were having. To which my Mom said. See, you are eating like rich people. ) They however got ice cream for desert and we didn't.

So, Get the bentley, tow your Airstream in style and give some poor 8 year old kid the impetus to work hard and smart so he could get his own Airstream and be "Goin Camping."

Bentley TV?

My favorite license plate, spotted on a very nice silver Rolls-Royce driven by a liveried driver.

Couple in the back, dressed to the nines.

License plate read, “HAD NOT”
