1979 Ford F100 Towing Question
Hello! I am considering buying a Bambi 16' CCD and was trying to figure out if I could tow the darn thing with my truck. Here is the deal...I have a 1979 Ford F100 short bed with a rebuilt 302 engine and a c-6 transmission. Before I bought the truck, the previous owner had installed Leaf Spring Stabilizers which are suppost to increase the load capacity up 1000 lbs, also there are trailer brakes installed, an over sized radiator, an auxiliary Trans-cooler with filter, heavy duty front and rear sway bars, and heavy duty rear bumper. With this extra stuff on the truck, I am not %100 how to figure out if my truck can handle the Bambi or not. I have the original owners manual and if I am reading the section on towing properly, I think that Ford recommends a 351 engine, but does all this extra stuff on my truck make any difference? Lastly, if I need to, I can get the transmission rebuilt with extra clutches and an RV tourqe convertor. What does everyone think?
Thanks for the help!!!

P.S. My factory GVWR is 4800 lbs.
