shocks

Went to replace the shocks on my '66 caravel today and one of the lower bolts twisted off due to rust. Any thoughts on replacing it. Looks like the head of the bolt may be welded into place, but hard to tell due to the rust that is present. Thanks for any thoughts you may have! Brad

Its really hard to say without seeing what you have.
You may have to use a cutting torch or a welder to get it fixed.
Post a picture and I may be able to give you an idea of how I would approach your problem.

If you can get at it you may be able to grind the remainder of the broken stud off, redrill the hole and put an automotive shock stud back in it's place. The only thing is it may have a welded attachment due to clearance issues, there might be no room for a threaded stud mount.
